Where does the Jack foot plate live?
At the moment my jacking foot plate is wedged behind the passenger seat but it doesn't seem like it's natural home and prevents the seat going back all the way.

There's also a bracket in the car which seems to fit the plate but again, no idea where it's should go.

Any ideas please. It's a non bulkhead CSW.

When I had the 90 it was directly behind the cubby box, along with the jack in its bag and a thick rubber band across the bracket, around them both. If that makes sense? 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone

Was that a non bulkhead car too? Did the footplate sit on the floor panel behind the cubby, sticking upwards?

Was that bracket screwed or riveted in position? 2016 D4 HSE

As above directly behind the cubby box. The bracket was not screwed or riveted. The weight of everything else sitting on it together with the band kept everything in situ. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

The jack and foot plate are tied up together and are mounted under my 2nd row seats. Don't have the truck on hand here now, but know that when I push the 2nd row seats forward down, the jack does not sit in the way of a flat floor.

Edit: see only now you talk about a 90. Mine is a 110 of course, so different storage. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Should I have one of these in my 2011 Defender?
It's just got the jack.

Depends on what jack you've got. If it is the tall pilar type then yes, it should have a foot plate. If it is the small bottle jack, then no, you don't need anything else to go with it. BTW, mines is mounted on the bulkhead between the seats, but if yours doesn't have a bulkhead then I've no idea where it would go.

Swap it for the later bottle jack and put it under the passenger seat

Directly behind the cubby box as the others have said with a thick elastic band holding it all in place. Mine does have a tendancy to rattle though - I keep meaning to sort out some rubber matting underneath to stop that.

Sorry - unable to upload photo....

The bracket is mounted horizontally directly behind the cubby box, in a channel on the centre line of the cab. My bracket is fixed down with one screw. The jack foot clips onto it and Is quite secure when driving. The awful Landrover screw jack sits over/across it in its lovely bag, fastened down by two ratchet straps fitted to the same channel as the foot bracket.

This makes sense when you are looking at it!

I'll try and get a photo.

Having said that, I agree that the jack is a pile of poo and you should invest in something else! Thumbs Up

Great. Got it. Thanks chaps.

I've put it back and put a piece of rubber mat under it to prevent rattles and vibration. I've got a bottle Jack too but the handle is 6 inches long! 2016 D4 HSE
