Hi John,
Not 100% sure on the antenna, think it's a Maldol? It's not mine, I just got a wee loan of it as I didn't have a suitable antenna with a PL mount, but now that I've fitted a mount with the SO239 connection I'll need to get one. I'm looking for something with a bit of flexibility ( bridge and tree strikes ) as well as being able to fold over for the trips into Tescos car park which has height restrictions. I've just fitted a dome mount at the rear of the rack with a 3/8 connector, this will do for the little HF I do - but probably just stationary as I've read that the TD5 produces a lot of noise on the bands? I mainly chase 2m SOTA contacts as VHF is pretty dead up this way - but I don't think we' alone in that. Click image to enlarge |

Whilst the sun is shining I fitted a new badge. I much prefer the look of an aluminium plate over the faded sticker that was there previously.

Cleaned it (well, the car wash did most of that ), applied a bit of ACF-50 to all door hinges, and WD40 into the two towing socket electrics. Checked oil and cleaned the engine compartment. Replaced the rear door into body screws as detailed in my separate thread. Now it goes back into storage until it comes out friday for the lake side Classic British Car Show next weekend. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Fired it up after a month to use whilst my Volvo's wheels get refurbished this week (yep, I've now got one of those to commute in ), and found it has the death rattle from the clutch Pete

Looking great Roddy, really envious of your yellow 90!
Took the 2 LED light bars off my front hoop, much quieter now . Also gave it all a bit of a clean up, starting to try to track its history aswell with its strange spec for my own interest more than anything else |

Thanks SailingTom, not many yellow 90s about - but there is another within about 5 miles of me! Will need to picture them both together. The wheels on your 110 are particularly tasty, have I seen them on a Startech Landy before? lovely

Sat in the dealership at the moment waiting to pick up 'Darth' which has been in for an adjustment to the indicator (wouldn't stay on when turning left.) under warranty, so let them do the work. Had been given a Jag XF as a courtesy car but not in the same class as my Defender

Mine moved 3 great big truck tyres to the other side of work, also put a nice big scrape in the rear. Should T- cut out fine though as more of a mark on the paint. Job for Saturday morning im sure
