Not driven this one yet but driven a number with the same deadening in, makes a huge difference. i personally think it's one of the best mods, I have also done the underside of the bonnet. Anyone nicking that on their own is in for a shock it weighs a hell of a lot more now. Just gives the car a quality feel and not like a tin can. 90 300 TDI SW (sold)

Just having a re-read through this thread and I spotted this comment
Might be worth investigating? Also, as an update on my 200Tdi I fitted some Tdci foot well sound deadening/matting things- this has made a huge difference in noise level and I'm fairly certain they should require much less "adjustment" to fit to your 300tdi than they did to my 200 Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

I did that to my 90 and it made little difference found lead flashing tape made more difference. I'm 110CSW I find all the noise is from badly fitting panels with lose / missing bolts and the doors. Had a horrendous rattling noise. Turned out the rear roof ladder bottom mount ri. Nuts are lose and rattling!!!! Packed it out with some rubber grommets. Noise gone YAY!! Next to do is strip down drivers door as that's noisy as fook

OK so today i pressed on with roof and got my 3M thinsulate installed!, fairly easy to work with, used spray glue to stick it up. the thinsulate is mega light so doesn't need much glue!
results, doing roof has been biggest improvement for me! the thinsulate appears to be doing a good job!not had a proper run but it is definitely quieter now! I'm very exited now! as once the liner goes back in it may be little better! also got plenty of other places to put the thinsulate. all 5 doors!!and behind all trim panels. g-mack,
Loving the effort going into this. Where did you get the thinsulate from and is there a choice of thicknesses? Cheers Rosco 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone 2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone 2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW |
