No worries just have a look at the thread below, choose what bushes you wish to fit and fit them. Shouldn't take more than an hour per side. Polybushes are IMO the easiest to fit, I have red ones fitted and they serve me well. The most difficult part is getting the old ones out which may require drilling out some of the rubber. Page 2 contains a photo step by step guide which I myself followed and added a couple of minor differences in an ensuing post.

Thanks K9F, however I've not been very clear
I have the new shocks (in the pic) however the bushes and washers were loose in the box. I don't know which configuration is correct. I've seen 4 washers on some pics (flat, cupped etc.) and 2 on others. I've seen the bushes facing in either direction. The lower washer in my pic won't physically fit on the upper part of the stud so I guess that helps me with the location of the washers. However I've seen them with the cup facing towards the bush, and also facing away 
I'm also assuming that the upper mounting washers are right - or maybe they could be part of the lower assembly...... I think I'm going quite mad! |

My mistake, thought you were looking for bushes. Sorry...
Upper cups towards the bushes....lower away from them. As page 2 of the link unless the design has changed since? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Upper mounts; washer domed /concave side to bush. Flat side out.
Lower mount on the photo I'd say everything is correct except the metal washers. Keep both in their same locations but the other way around. Curved / concave side towards the middle (both bushes) Bushes are in the correct orientation. Remember the bolts are all torqued to a specific torque setting, they shouldn't be just tightened up to personal preference. (Except for one single exception on the front) |

It's a great thread K9F and looking at the installed pics on page 2 I think I've got both the washers and the bushes the wrong way round!
As I said, if you search t'internet etc. you find every permutation which doesn't help muppets like me! Still, it's all desktop at this stage. Cheers, Will |

Thanks Steve, it does make sense for the dome/curve to be against the rubber at the mounting points to allow flex/movement. Assuming the bushes are the right way around then the taper should sit in a cup/washer on the axle bracket? I shall be having a closer look under the Landy on Saturday. Cheers |

Bushes are the wrong way around. The larger ends of the bushes sit into cups that are spot welded to either side of the axle bracket.
Older models had a second pair of loose inner washers instead of the cups, hence the other pics you have seen. |

Here is a photo of the front shocker on Microcat. It is somewhat different anyway due to the extra inner washers.
 Click image to enlarge I personally can't see the bushes being the opposite way to a they are now being correct for one reason. If you look at the fronts you'll notice these two extra washers, they must be for the purpose of keeping the bush concentric and seated. At the rear you don't have these washers on, not on later models.TD5 maybe and TDCi definitely. They have the welded cups as stated above on the axles on brackets. There are no additional washers so it's bush to cup direct. The tapered bush design in my opinion is slightly cone like to seat into these cups and keep the shock concentric in the hole. (You don't want metal of metal!) This was how my shocks were from factory when I removed them last year to replace. Although I've opened no doubt a can of worms now lol. But they are tapered for a reason, they must be. |

I don't mind the can being opened and the worms wriggling all over the place - just as long as we get the bottom (quite literally) of this. I'm in danger of turning into the man in the pub in the Fast Show, always agreeing with the last thing someone says! Gordon Banks in goal....... I was going to say all will revealed when I take the old ones off - but it won't - because they might have been put on wrong! I'm grateful for all responses, past and future! |

I've contacted LR to double check, I could be wrong on this myself so best to check.
My school of thinking is the orientation of the fronts, as mentioned before they do have a taper for a reason. |

Here is a guide on paddocks website. The Land Rover centre told me the same. Contrary to logic, the bushes are fitted this way round. Bizarre as you would think the lip on the bush was designed to fit between the mount and the pin of the damper but it appears not. 2002 110 td5 |

Perfect find, I was wrong then bar the washer orientation.
Interestingly the fronts aren't tapered at all. |

I, on the other hand (pic in OP) am/was 100% wrong. 
Opening a can of worms is not such a bad thing after all. I had a nose under the Landy and thankfully the image before me is consistent with the agreed configuration. The Forum does its stuff again  |
