There is another one in the garage and two more in a mates workshop. The white picker I am only borrowing for some work, it will be kept at work normally. 2011 110 USW

That one broke down with 707 miles on the clock, pierced coolant pipe...currently under repair. Also had a 61 plate hardtop seize the engine up apparently, I think it was just oil pump failure myself. Back to factory job so I understand. 2011 110 USW

So I got my 110 back on Friday. I bought a second-hand/renovated wing...in hindsight I think this was not such a great move. The garage said that the innner section was off a much earlier Defender and they had to modify it to fit...plus the wing was so full of filler they dared not bend it lest it crack. I knew it was a recon job but was assured it would be right for a Tdci. Paint seems to be a good colour match but there appear to be little marks in the top off of bubble wrap which won't come off...sigh. The cost of the install was about three times what I expected as they had to take so long to modfiy it to fit...apparently. After all this my faith in humanity has taken a bit of a pounding.
I reckon long term I will save up and buy some genuine bits and get a professional spray job. At the same time I will try and get the front straightened up, as now I have a skew-whiff rad panel and the gap between the wing and bonnet is too great on the drivers side. Not really much to update but I have done something of a de-clutter on my 110. The side steps are gone and have been sold, the snow cover has been removed and put into storage for next winter.
I like the less-is-more approach but obviously the RAI will have to stay. Sadly again not much to report on my 110. I mainly use my work-issue 130 so the 110 gets to rest for the most part.
I have booked into the Defender heritage tour on December 4th, question is do I go to Solihull in my 110 or my 1-Tonner? 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

True, however it is also three times the cost in fuel and will take twice as long to get there...hmmm.... 2011 110 USW
