Fuel consumption 2.2 MY15
Hi there
Does anyone have any thoughts on the fuel consumption of my 2.2 I can only get 250 miles to the tank. It is on Goodyear MTR tyres.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi i do longish runs and get about 340 a tank, mines a 2012 90 2.2 hard top on continental at tyres with 25,000 on the clock.I run on normal diesel normally shell or bp .I do not drive slow quite the opposite i wind it up through the gears and this also gives smoother gear changes too.iIve worked the mpg at between 29 to 32,which is a lot better than my old td5.Maybe it will get better with more miles.The mt tyres will make a slight difference due to the extra drag. Talking of drag the handbrakes not binding is it?

A lot really depends on how the vehicle is driven, it also makes quite a bit of difference whether you're doing short journeys or not. I tend to never go over 60mph, they can really drink the fuel, hardly surprising when they're basically a brick with wheels on Laughing

As a rule of thumb I've experienced this to be true on my MY14 90:

100 km/h - 10 liters on 100km
110 km/h - 11 liters
120 km/h - 12
and so on...

It doesn't really drop much below 9-9.5l for 100km and about 10l with my roof top tent on. But it doesn't go up either if you're staying below 100km/h. Then you can drive about anything (steep alpine mountain roads, short distances etc.) without really affecting the mileage. Must be the famous Defender magic Bow down Laughing

I don't know about the fuel consumption of a 110, but realistically speaking I would expect a range of 650 to 700km referring to the consumption of my 90. On mine I get about 500-550km per tank (57l), but keep in mind that 60% of my mileage consists of my flat 10km to and from work and about 40% on alpine roads and my highspeed is about 80-90 km/h keeping the revs mostly between 1500 and 2500 rpm. No autobahn or whatsoever in the daily use of my trusty Landy. Wink

How much "to a tank", is a pretty vague measurement. I mean,how far to empty are you going to go before you fill up to work out your "tank full"...not very accurate at all.
The only way to measure accurately is fill up, take your mileage, let it go to say 400ks, 250miles, or whatever, and then fill up again, & take the mileage reading,.....that will give you a truly accurate reading.
We normally average between 29-31 MPG.

28MPG in my 15 Plate 110 on a 200 mile motorway run compared with my 30 year old 90 (200TDI) getting 37MPG on the same run... DPFs save the environment? Censored !

Hi Pickles. You're absolutely right. "per tank" for me is pretty much after the fuel light comes on and referring to the gas pump this means at about 49 - 50l of fuel consumption. So, my MY14 90 averages in at 9 - 9.5l for 100km during daily use.

The tyres wont help either, MTR, ATR, Road probably 1-2mpg between them, muds being the worse Mike
