Can't have just 1 bike....
I have had my hardtail for years. It's a Cove Stiffee, built it from the frame up. Having a Defender, I have to go aluminum for my bikes! The stiff is light and easy to throw around. Climbs like crazy on the technical uphill. As fun as it is, I'm getting old, and the full suspension is just more civilized for where I ride. My full suspension bike is old school, '03 Kona Stinky with a Bomber Super T Pro. It's a tank. 7" of travel and t just eats up everything here on the Shore. Have a look at the video, all shot on my local trails, 10 minutes from my house...Been riding these trails for 20 years. I'm going to stay with a local bike. Rocky Mountain, Cove, or Kona...stay tuned... |

All you lads/lasses who love their mountain bikes (like me) should come down to my place for the Big Outdoors in May. Can promise some great riding on natural singletrack

Hi I thought I’d resurrect this post as I would really like some advice please I’ve still got my Specialized FSR XC pro that I bought in 2008 and is on the 1st page of this topic under my old username of Wurzell it’s now got road tyres fitted as I use it to commute to work now it’s been a great bike and it will continue to be my daily ride but I’m going to be in the market for a new mountain bike in January I’ve got a set budget in mind and I’ve been looking at either 2018 or 2019 Orbea Occam TR H50 I’m also looking at the 2018 Specialized Camber Comp 29er if anyone please has any comments good or bad about either of these bikes I would really appreciate it,the bike would be used for trails, hills and forest tracks all of which being accessible within a very short ride of home cheers Paul

Barney - don't know about the Orbea specifically, but the current generation trail bikes - particularly 29" ones - are pretty awesome, and can do it all. For mortals, who are not racing XC or doing gnarly / technical descents, they are pretty much a one quiver bike.
I'm looking at the new Canyon Neuron or possibly the YT Jeffsey to replace my Capra, which was "too much" of a bike for the kind of riding I do. To be honest, I don't think there are any "bad" bike from the well known manufacturers these days. Its a more a question of subtle differences in the bikes, and how they fit and match your riding style. I tried many this summer, and honestly would have been very happy with about 80% of them... |

2011/2 Santa Cruz Nomad - was a custom build back in the day by 18 Bikes and it’s been everywhere since weeks in France etc. It’s been so reliable I now can’t bring myself to part with it..
