I always think that's a bit much, overpowering the taste of the beef.

I'm now wondering whether it should be venison burgers for tea...

As an aethiest republican it would have been rather hypocrytical of him to be singing 'God save the Queen'. He was present at the event and that's what counts.
Please bear in mind that the largely tory owned and tory supporting press will be bending over themselves to put Corbyn in the blackest light possible. Their assassination attempts will continue up to the next election and the more gullible will continue to read and believe it.

Being an aethiest republican is no excuse for being scruffy.
Top button done up and tie tied properly isn't to much to ask.
He may not like the Royal Family but should show respect to them. He was there as leader of the opposition party to pay respect to soldiers, sailors and airmen who paid the ultimate price for his freedom. I know you could twist it the other way, freedom of speech, freedom of association, etc etc. But they didn't fight for him to exercise his "freedom to dress scruffily".
But at the end of the day, he is good for the Conservative Party. All the time he is the leader of the opposition they will never fair well in elections. He is a snake of a politician who will do Labour no favours what so ever.
Point in case, when pushed to say he condemned the IRA, he refused and danced around the question. It's easy, they murdered countless people because of their religion. Perhaps if the IRA reformed and they started killing scruffy people he might change his attitude 110 D250 SE HT

Maybe a pilot from WWII should have the last word:

“As a RAF veteran of World War Two I'm not offended by Corbyn not singing national anthem – but I am offended by politicians who sell guns to tyrants,” he tweeted.

“What offends me are those who use ancient wars to sell their dubious war on terror."

The UK government grants arms export licences for countries with highly criticised human rights records, including Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.

/\/\/\ Good post, can't imagine then, how offended people are that we are fighting for "profits" and not humanity.I think its patronizing for most politicians to even turn up at war memorials. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

Long semantic discussion about Queen and Country being indistinguishable follows...

1. No, just the Queen who is 89 and still working pretty much full time when most of her subjects expect to finish by at least 70 if not earlier.
2. Not over-indulged, the Royal Family bring around half a billion pounds in to the country due to tourism etc. and until such time as someone personally (or through a family firm) can equal that, any complaint of how much cash the Royals have will always smell of the politics of envy and nothing more.
3. No discussion, they are indistinguishable. The Crown is the authority of the nation, embodied by the person of the Sovereign and causes all laws and apparatus of state to take effect through Parliament. Without it there is no glue to bind the collection of laws, precedents and conventions which pass for the "constitution" of the UK.

Rant over.

Each time I was on Duty at 'Buck House' I was required to visit the Police Control Room and see the Royals' agendas for the period I was on duty (normally 24 or 48hrs). I can attest to the effort HM put in and anyone thinking she has it easy or is privileged, is wholly mistaken. She has sacrificed her life, and to a degree those of her family, for what she sees as her duty to the Country. She didn't ask to do it, certainly not from such a young age or for so long, but she does it with gusto.

Here might be an example day when I was last serving (2004) and as far as I am aware she hasn't really let up:

0800-0830: Meeting with her Private Secretary
0900-1000: Meeting with Prince of Wales (yup, she was so busy her children had to book in to see her)
1000-1100: Meeting with Prime Minister
1200-1300: Lunch with Ambassador of wherever
1400-1500: Opening new wing of West Mid Hospital
1600-1700: Meeting in capacity as patron of some charity
1900-2200: State Dinner with President So-and-so.

Then chuck in some overseas state visits and bar Easter weekend at Windsor and a couple of weeks at Balmoral and Sandringham that has been her life. She has done this every single day, week in, week out, year in, year out and has done for almost as long as most people live. She even deals with matters of State on Christmas morning. Extraordinary woman who has offered unbelievable and unwavering commitment to this country. Far more than some soppy leech of president like Hollande, who whilst democratically voted in, has taken on the role as some kind of power trip and certainly not for the good of the country. Fallacy to think a President would offer any more or cost the tax payer any less.

I guarantee most people who complain about the royals have no idea just how much she (they) does, what she has sacrificed and just how quickly they would tire of such a lifestyle. I'd give some a year, but most a month. People do not understand duty and many are idle, they simply couldn't hack it. She may have some cracking properties, staff and a quite a bit of cash, but I can tell you now, having met her, been in her palaces, worked with her staff, and got a sense of just what her life entails, I would not take her place for a moment.

Well done Ma'am. 'Chapeau'. Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier
