If Range Rovers Are So Unreliable, Why Do People Still Buy
Seems to hit the nail on head...

From a self interested point of view, I wish I liked Jags and lived in America - free servicing and 5 year warranties...

Maybe if the new Defender has a slow take up and JLR consider sweetening the deal, or at least offering parity with other models in other markets?

We are on our third RR over the last seven years, never, ever had a problem with any of them!

Bought my parents 2007 RR TDv8 - it's was 5 years old with 60k
They had no issues but I've done 60 K in 3 years

Usually suspension lower arms well under engineered! £70 a pop last about 20k
EGR valves x2 one failed replaced both £600 (100k)
Alternator £500 (110k)
Both turbos £3500 (120k)

L322 is a great car, big, comfy, tdv8 has good power, great for towing the horse trailer, trips to Disney Paris in one drive.
I'm in it for a lot of money so hard to change it now, thinking about Disco 4 or even get a 110 USW & car for work

They are a great car and tick all the box's

Who says Range Rovers are unreliable?

It's not my experience, and I'm now on my 4th in a row and 5th overall spanning over ten years. 2016 D4 HSE

My experience of two from new was that they both had issues including alternator, ACE unit, differential, knocking suspension bushes (multiple), exterior trim falling off, turbo actuator arm...

JLR spent £543m on warranty in 2015 on sales of £21.8b so that's 2.48%.

There's no way JLR are going to make public the individual spend on model, so just one way of cutting that figure would be:

Averaged out on a RR starting at £74,950 that would equal a warranty cost of £1,861 per vehicle. If yours has cost nothing then just double the figure for your neighbour!

“SNOBBERY?”

Of course! Many (most?) owners of new RRs bought them solely to impress on non-RR owners that “I have a vehicle that costs more in depreciation than you earn”. In much the same way that many (most?) owners of new Defenders bought them solely to impress on non-Defender owners that “I have a vehicle that’s more butch than yours”.

It's one of the most opulent vehicles to drive on the road

I doubt I will ever drive a Big Rolls Royce, but other than that don't think anything will beat the drive of a FFRR for that "Magic Carpet" ride feel Thumbs Up

Is that the point JR was making?

I took it to mean a form of inverted snobbery, i.e. those who can't afford a RR slag it off for being unreliable.

To be honest, I give a damn about non-Defender owners cars - I bought my Defender to be able to wave to other Defender drivers Rolling with laughter
