Copied from Vintagepauls post but also a question I would love to know the answer to, especially in the defenders last year of production!

I wouldn't be so sure, I'd say there are way more 90's in private hands but loads more 110s which have been bought by the army, utility companies and other outfits who have just scrapped them rather than sell them on.
I think its fair to say 130s are the minority though Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

A mysterious remark! Does that mean: a) "We don't know, but I want to add an air of mystery to my answer rather than simply saying 'I don't know'", or b) "We know exactly the breakdown but for mysterious commerical reasons we are not prepared to disclose the information", or c) "We probably have the information but we'd have to extract it from a database somehow and we're not sufficiently interested to do so"? It is hard to believe that the breakdown is unknown, and hard to see why the information is commercially sensitive. Never mind, I am sure in the fullness of time someone will write another book about the Defender in which the full production figures will be demystified. |

I hardly think that revealing to the outside world that they have sold so many 90's/110's and 130's is going to weaken/affect JLR in any way. (Bearing in mind they are not going to be selling the defender from the end of the year and the replacement is a good 2 years away after that).
It just seems really small minded that they are not prepared to release the figures even if it was just an approx split between the 3 models as a lot of us on here would be interested to know. |

It means that's a question that needs a direct factual answer which raises concerns. You can hear them. We aren't sure if it would compromise us commercially as we would first need to ask legal and commercial about the sensitivity of the data. Marketing would then need input to ensure the answers can't be seen as degrading any brand messages. Of course a working party would be needed to perform this exploratory task and working parties will need a project code which only gets issued once a business case has been proven. Even if it passed this stage the question would need to be asked can the data be found? It could, probably, it's just early records may well be difficult to access. Decisions will need to be made about the scope of the query too. UK built and assembled? UK built and assembled here and CKD kits put together elsewhere? Models made elsewhere under licence? Once the final report is compiled it will need to be verified for accuracy. All this from the firm quite possibly capable of putting the doors on upside down....
So, that's a, b and c Craig [Sorry for being tetchy but my def has been in the garage for its first service and warranty work since Friday last week and I'm missing it. The FL2 courtesy car, though much appreciated (I do like Farnell Guiseley) really is a soulless heap compared to mine. The warranty work completed today so I get it back tomorrow ] 2015 110 USW XS in Santorini with premium contrast leather seats in tan/black, black headlining and with Dual Finish alloys (in the garage, now on Wolf rims with Goodyear MT/Rs) 2012 '62' 2.2 X-Tech 110 USW now gone ... 1984 90 soft top with full roll cage, 200 tdi engine etc now sold 2012 USW XS 2.2 "FUU" now gone.... |

No way would this info be "confidential".
It may not be immediately available or initially easy to find, but I'm certain that if someone got off their backside in the marketing/sales department, this info could be forthcoming. Pickles. |

A bit of 'digging' and a spare few hours on the UK DVLA website will reveal all I am sure!
