Good to see your 'fix' for the rear step, dgardel.
I have always been worried by the rear corner protection on my 90 - so I purchased a pair of Equipe 4x4 Bumperettes from Milan - Boy, are they strong and good looking!!! Whoever hits my rear from the side is going to get substantial damage on the vehicle. 'El pepe flamenco' JLS 'El Pepe Flamenco' |

Hi All,
Just sent off for my new 110 step/bumper thingy like you have on here Dgardel - ordered from the same place as well! Hope it's easy to fit!! Should be a good addition to the waggon as it will save the bumps from the odd corsa and pinto, and give Jules a place to put her feet when cooking up our dinner in the back! - Plus it will look smart!! I love birthdays!! tee hee! How much ground clearance / approach angle do you lose with one of those?

After driving 4000 kms through the rugged north west without so much as a dent or flat tyre, this is what happened to my Defender parked outside of my own house ten days ago...
Click image to enlarge I'm pleased to say that the other car, a 12 year old Holden Nova, was totally demolished (no injuries) and the alcohol drenched owner was reduced to a blubbering mess. Will be repaired in February, assessed at $20,000 AUD worth of damage. Cheers, Rick. 4-0.
A few years back some jerk rammed the back of my Td5 in the middle of the night and drove off. I say 'drove off' because he left most of the front of his car behind. I didn't have any extra bumpers or gear on the back and the sum total damage to mine was a dish-dent in the crossmember (only slightly noticeable) and a bent mudflap bracket. 5-0. Whilst stuck in a long queue of traffic, the chap right behind me in his nice new jag decided he'd had enough and pulled out aggressively to jump a few places down the line. Unfortunately he misjudged it and caught my rear O/S corner. I felt the tug as he hit me and instinctively applied the brakes to the horrible sound of grating metal. We both got out and to his complete embarrassment (he was quick to admit it was his fault) observed that he'd can-opened the side of his car on mine. No damage to me other than a slightly scuffed crossmember to show for it. I didn't even submit a claim. I know there's no comparing a modern car's safety to our crude boxes but in general shunts, the defender hasn't half saved me a lot of time, cost and paperwork! One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |
