Door bolt torque figure - (Now established as 15 Nm)
Is there an official figure for torquing up the door bolts - can't find one myself?

I just replaced all bolts, had asked both dealer and a Def specialist about torque settings. Best answer was from the latter, tighten it up, but don't overdo it. So unless someone knows figures here, common sense seems to order. It worked for me. Thumbs Up
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Eric is correct, direct cut and paste from Workshop Manual, no torque settings apart from 'quarter of a white knuckle'.... Thumbs Up

Installation
1. With assistance position door and fit but do not tighten
bolts.
2. Align door to body aperture and tighten bolts. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Thanks both of you.

Explains why I could not find anything. So too loose and doors drop or fall off and too tight and threads strip or retaining nut shears. It would be nice to know what torque the factory power wrenches are set to. Do you think Ryan would could find this?

Possibly Ryan could help but where would they get their setting from? Trial and error I presume! I replaced all my door hinges including the Safari Door with no torque figures and no issues whatsoever. Bearing in mind I am by nature heavy-handed I just used a little caution. If you are used to spannering just use the same principles. As they are all readily accessible it is no mither loosening them, realigning and nipping them up a little tighter should you find the door sags, they'll hardly fall off as you mentioned unless you don't use a spanner at all, forget to connect the door retaining bars/straps and the lock entirely misses the door striker? Just get on with it!

OK thanks again. I think I'll just let it remain a mystery - a factory secret as it were Snigger

You'd have to be pretty ham-fisted to shear off an M8 bolt or strip the threads in the nut inserts.

Just do them up 'tight' - it's only a door hinge!
