The towing electrics on my TD5 90 have corroded away at the plug, and whilst I could just fit a new plug, I have a new caravan with a 13 pin connection.
I could fit the normal 12N and 12S sockets, and use an adaptor to connect the caravan, but I think it would be better and neater to fit a 13 pin socket to the vehicle. Does anybody know if the 13 pin electrics will plug in under the right hand rear wheel arch like the old 12N harness that I have just removed? or will I be into wiring mods to fit a 13 pin version? 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy 1968 S2a 88 aka Bob 2014 Jaaaag F Type 3.0 Supercharged. |

The 13 pin electrics do plug in, but there is a branch which goes forwards to the battery where a relay is mounted to generate the ignition feed for the 13 pin socket.
I've got 13 pin on the Puma but have not yet fitted the ignition branch  But I am not towing a tin tent just normal trailers   1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Having said that, for the Td5 part numbers (for a 90, YWJ500040) the instructions are not on TOPIX

Ok, saved me the bother of looking.

I'd agree with you. All of the connections except the ignition are available in the rear wheel arch if you look hard enough
