I fitted a diff lock sump plug .. You plug a tube into the sump and you don't have to drop the fuel cooler guard

I asked a local LR spares if they would like to buy these wheels - not interested they said. But you've not heard what I'd like to do, nah can't sell em mate. . Ok!!!!

So, I spoke to Mike Harding Land Rovers in Devon which I pass regulary - what a difference in attitude and helpfulness. We have 3 choices he said, 1. I buy them cheap. 2. I sell them for you and give you a shout when they're sold. 3. You can trade them into me for parts.

We chose the latter, I went away very happy with new side steps, rear step, roof lamp bar, spare wheel cover and new posh grill Kbx in satin black. . . Not only was a relationship formed but I'll be using this guy moving forwards for service has he showed me his workshop, said I can speak to his mechanics anytime and happy to do me extra oil changes.

Cleaned it, polished it and rain-x'ed all the glass. Then ran out of steam before tackling the inside and re-ACF'ing the relevant bits - ah well, there's always next time! Rolling Eyes

Done the clutch, had the "death rattle" so much nicer to drive again.

I had fallen out of love with it for a few months, but we're back on now Razz 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered.

Replaced the rear springs and shocks. Not a bad job overall, considering. The worst part, one of the bolts sheared that holds the flat bar in place over the spring so had to drill that out and replace with a nut and bolt.
The springs did not look too knackered when comparing the heights of the old vs new.
The shocks however had no rebound in them, so when compressed the shocks did not try to uncompress themselves - So I suspect they are knackered?

Next is the fronts! 1999 Defender TD5 110

I know.. do't know whether to Big Cry or Laughing it just sort of happened Laughing
It was a good vehicle. The 2015 Keswick CSW we have just seemed to be that bit better put together and more enjoyable to drive.
The JCW Paceman is a real marmite car, but drives brilliantly, has 4WD, and I just fancied one...

Unfortunately, no, dampers don't work like springs, they work with the spring to reduce the high frequency vibrations so you don't keep bouncing down the road after a bump, thus they don't rebound on their own. No harm replacing them anyway!

Fitted my fuel cooler guard today. Easy 10 min job.

Just spent the last 10 days camping near to Bala, 750 miles travelled which isn't bad considering I'm only 85 miles away. Dida fair few of the greenlanes in the area including carting a load of bikes round for some of our party to cycle the odd greenlane and one of my boys, with four others decided to cycle the whole of the Wayfarers. We did a number of other lanes including the Machynlleth Loop which some will know under a different name. Five of us managed to do the lane starting from the East without the use of winches or a helping tup.
As a result the rear radius to chassie gaind a lot of play plus I ended up having a dieselling problem which resulted in the injector loom being replaced along with the injector washer and seaks getting replaced.
I'm not getting so much stick for having a comprhensive supply of spares that go with me everywhere Whistle

When I tossed the old ones to one side, it was upside down in the old sping and when I picked it up the oil leaked out from under the top shroud. 1999 Defender TD5 110

I finally got round to putting stickers on the outside of my tinted rear windows. Affixed with book-covering plastic, sadly I have only managed a passable job - it was very tricky! 2005 110 XS - Cairns Blue "Bertha" - Gone, and sorely missed
