Swopped my Defender handbrake for a Discovery one up on top of the seatbox. I can now relax my left leg without the handbrake lever digging in
Quite an easy operation, the only hiccup was that even after adjusting the cable, the end was still a good ½" short of the clevis pin hole. Soon sorted by cutting ½" out of the base of the lever and rewelding it back together. I think the Disco handbrake assembly came from a Disco 1, whether the Disco II is different I don't know but this one works OK |

I too used a disco 1 handbrake and no mods were needed. But I did sit the handbrake a bit further back

It may have been that the cable is biased towards the drum more on mine but it wasn't a big problem. I left mine further forward mainly as I haven't got a lot of room left on my seatbox due to me shifting the drivers seat towards the middle an inch and a half to allow for more elbow room with the RX8 seats I put in.

That's the problem I think I will have, not enough room with my aftermarket seats filling the gap!

That's what I thought before I bit the bullet and tried it. By leaving the lever part forward, well the original was out there, it takes up hardly any space and it's not in the way of any gears levers.
