Looks very nice - really miss my Lightweight doors - they had real functionality, could nealy take the tops off as quickly as taking the whole door off; and never had any concerns of anyone nicking them!

What's the purpose of the chequerplate over the rear bumperettes?

Two nick picking points - put the rear flap ears through the slots and not over when you fasten them; and I think your shovel is mounted 180 degrees out - the blade should face inwards and slip under the metal hoop.

SailingTom - not wrong there - imagine what a modern Lightweight could be like on a coiled chassis, bigger engine and a few other mods.

Chequer plate is always a NO NO on a lightweight . However on the rear bumperettes of above was for the kids to step into the back and also the obligatory cup of T. and cake .
Notice none on this pic .

Wow, I'm drooling. My favourite old Landy was a '52 80" from many years ago, coz you could strip it down to the lower doors with the windscreen folded flat in no time.

This looks just as adaptable, but I've never had a Lightweight, so can I ask; what are they like to drive? The same as their 2A or 3 counterparts, or are there any noticeable differences?

I would say they drive pretty much the same as their civilian counterparts of the same era. No carpets though so a lot noisier than if you are used to driving a civilian one with carpets and/or a floor/transmission tunnel covering.
If you get a 24 volt FFR (fitted for radio) version then the generator adds an extra load on the engine output and, on mine at least, the generator had it's own whine Smile

Lovely! My Series 3 whines a lot too (well, the Fairy-washing-up-liquid overdrive does).

I'd looked at an ex Dutch Military Lightweight, they have a few different bits and pieces, and a Diesel motor, but I passed on that particular one. There's a place close to me here, that have an ex RAF S2A Lightweight, which was really, really tempting, but I needed LHD and it was RHD.

Any way, yours is a really, truly lovely vehicle. Thumbs Up
