X member fixings / brackets

Why is I notice some Defenders x member bracket fixings on top of the panel at the rear and underneath on others.
From factory on mine a Puma it is underneath so all you see is the bolt heads not the x memeber brackets.

Is this due to different year variations or in-correctly fitted

1997 Defender 90 300 Tdi HT Stornoway Grey

Age variations. Up to Td5 had brackets over the tub, TDCi Puma have brackets underneath the tub, hence only the bolt heads visible

Td5 have the sliding rear body mount too. Tabs over the tub ended with the last Tdi
