I'd never bow down to the rivet counters... You should always build a car to suit yourself, not everybody else. Unless it's built to sell. We should have a 'Series' section, as I'd like see this Blackwolf. Sorry for the hijack. |

I'm with you on that one Greeni!
Just the other week I was at a car show with my 80" a bloke walked up to me and said in a Bolshy manner...... Series ones never left the factory with mud flaps on the back! I told him I knew that, but as its mine I will do what I please! They have been on there for a long time, I like them, so they stay! It's part of its history. You can line up 10 of them, and I guarantee none of them will be identical. He just walked off shaking his head! With my 86" I never intended it to be fully restored I just wanted it useable,it's just that when I got stuck in, it needed so much work, it turned into a rather expensive, full restoration. I prefer them a bit used and abused, then your not scared to use them, green lanes....etc Second that for a series section, I know it's a defender forum but many members seem to have one tucked away:thumbsup: 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

I have a classic tractor and a series one land rover and the land rover fraternity are much easier on you than the old boys in the tractor world. When restoring my tractor I was told that I was doing everything wrong by our local expert. Some people would rather see something left in the hedge than give a little encouragement or helpful advice.
What ever you do to a vehicle that you own and cherish should be up to you ,unless you are going for the "best ever"but they were never that good in the first place. The best thing is the hours of entertainment ,satisfaction ,that old vehicles can provide. |

What a ridiculous comment! They didn't leave the factory with overdrives, passenger windscreen wipers and heaters, but not to stop them being fitted later! Its part of the way they evolve through different ownership. for a 'Series' section - after all, they are direct DNA (provided you let me in with my Rocky Mountain paras) Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond..... |

I know all about the tractor world!!
My dad restored a MF 135 a couple of years ago, it's better than new! It's been to a few shows, everyone just says it's too nice, shouldn't be painted in twin pack, etc...... He got quite upset. He never done it to show off in anyway, it's just when he does do a restoration, he does them bloody well! He doesn't bother showing it now, how sad is that? All down to the people who just can't keep their mouth shut, and just accept that any restoration is done to the individual standard of the person carrying it out! 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

Looks nice
I have had and restored a fair few old vehicles over the years and as time has gone on, or more likely I have got older, have come to realise that we are merely transient custodians. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Another for a 'Series' section, subdivided into S1, S2 S2A and S3? 101s, Lightweights, Cuthbertsons...
Soon (hopefully) or maybe not.... I will no longer have a Defender, just my Series 3. So it would be nice to stick with this forum, coz the peeps here is quite nice. |
