United Kingdom 2008 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 CSW Bonatti Grey
At last I have picked up the S1.
Evening all.

For anyone who read my posts regarding buying this new Series one, PAYPAL WORRIES
It was worth all the grief! Rolling with laughter

What I have now is a February 1950 ex military 80"
One of the last of the original lights behind, "full grille" models, all original matching 1600cc engine, gearbox, chassis numbers.

She's Been stored in a lock up since 1984 and not seen the light of day for a long time.
Everything the owner had removed over the years that needed replacing, he had the foresight to keep the original parts,
So I have all original rear lights, ignition coil, fuel pump etc, as all these parts carry the manufacture dates that makes the vehicles history.

As I finished loading it on to the trailer, he came out with 4 large plastic boxes, and said I'm not sure if you want these?
These consisted of a whole heap of NOS parts, worth a fortune on their own!
Various Land Rover books.
Genuine original 1949 workshop manual.
Genuine series 1 tool kit!!
Many many old spanners, sockets, etc
A pewter model af a series 1 still in its box.
Over 30 mint series one club magazines,
A whole ring binder full of receipts and I mean masses of them!
Unused roof canvas
I have the original buff log book, every Mot since 1964 when it was decommissioned from the military.

To be honest I was blown away with what I had been given!
Upon hand over I'm sure he had tear in his eye Crying or Very sad
I've promised to keep in touch and let him know what I am upto with the old girl!

So my plan?

Over the winter take the body off, restore running gear, and all necessary items, which will be most things.
Galvanize chassis.
Strip engine and box but not painting any of it.
Remove the overcoat of nasty thick green paint, and get her back to factory paint/bare alloy.
I'm going to try to keep her a bit rough and ready, and put the canvas back on.
Then use her!

I've had her running today for the first time in years!

Just for a bit of Defender content, when I was collecting my trailer, the clutch master cylinder decided to dump its fluid all over my shoe and footwell, so that got fixed yesterday afternoon! Big Cry

Here she is

Shocked

Just to show the diversity of these pages we go from super cool to a horrible thing all on the same forum.

I wonder which one we are most jealous that we don't own ?

Very nice, great find,

Is that a genuine 80" hardtop or a cut-down 86/88"? If is gen, it is exceptionally scarce!

An original hardtop with an original tropical roof! Exceptional!

Narrow front springs (of course). 0610 series chassis or earlier? (I have a '53 which was rebuilt c.1970 onto an 0610 chassis (!) but is interesting because the chassis number is between some of the RR B40 vehicles).

As a mil vehicle I'm a little surprised it doesn't have the full width vent under the screen.

It really is an exceptional find and I can understand your excitement! Thanks for sharing, please keep the pictures coming.
