Simple pressurised oil filler

I don't know if this idea has been discussed on here before, but I need to fill the gearbox, transfer box and two diffs with oil, and know from past experience it's a real royal pain in the butt trying to get them filled without spilling oil everywhere!

Here's a couple of photos of the pressurised filler bottle I knocked up today in about 20 mins. It's simply a 1 litre P.E.T fizzy drink bottle, with a couple of Schrader valves, a bit of pipe, a simple hose clamp / stopper and a £1 bike pump from Tescos!

The Schrader valve in the base of the bottle is for attaching the pump to pressurise the bottle, while the one fitted to the cap has had the core removed to let the oil flow.. The pipe clamp lets you control or stop the flow..

It's simple, and cheap.. The valves were £3 from Ebay, the bottle was out of the bin, and the pipe and clamp were just salvaged from the bits pile in the shed.. The only "construction" bit is drilling the two 11mm holes for the valves rubber seals to fit in, followed by a tweak with a spanner to make sure things are tightly sealed..

I'd post full construction details, but the photos can say it better than a few words!!!

To use, close the pipe clamp first.. Fill bottle with the required amount of oil, attach pump, poke the pipe in the filler hole, pump the pump a few times and release the pipe clamp.. Topping up the air from time to time.. It's small enough to get into the nooks under the car, and by having the filler coming from the cap end, the bottle can almost be horizontal and still get a decent flow...

Apologies if this has been done before, but nowt came up in the search!!!

I had considered a garden sprayer but wasnt sure if the pipe work would be too smaller diameter to allow the oil to pass through without a lot of force. 1999 Defender TD5 110

It works. The oil may need to be warmed up. It wasn't me!

If you haven't got the Schraeder valves required lying around the gun is probably cheaper too! The fizz bottle is a great innovative idea though! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Been using a garden type pressure sprayer (2 of) for years...with the drain plug it makes it all so easy Mike
