Nothing!! Puma has been sick the last week and hasn't moved off the drive.
Must be a bit of pre cognitive thingy ma jingy going on as I ordered a couple of Ashcroft ATB diffs 3 weeks ago as an upgrade and after changing the clutch which made the Puma a lot quieter, it allowed me to hear a faint grumbling in the rear. So jacked up the rear end and checked the wheel bearings for movement and noise, finding nothing, out came the stethoscope and I got my missus to turn the rear wheel whilst I had a listen at the final drive and it sounds as if one of the diff bearings is about to let go as the pinion bearing appears tight with no movement or leakage but I will double check this once the final drive comes out. Due to workload I needed to wait until this Friday to get time off and get stuck in, can't wait, 3 free days to get everything done. |

Brian - I've just fitted them to my 110. Rears are pretty easy, fronts take a lot longer due to CVs etc but well worth it
I also fitted a wide angle fulcrum (rear axle joint) not because there was a problem but the wide angle ones have grease nipples and the engineer has air tools which makes it 5 minute job |

Drove from home (500m), over the Splügen Pass (2100m), down into Chiavenna (c 300m) for lunch, back to St. Moritz (1700m) for tea, and over the Julierpass (2200m) home.
Total elevation and number of hairpins - who's counting. One of the most amazing drives one can do in a day, in Switzerland and Italy. Scenery this time of year, unbelievable. I might do it again next month Sold the much modified 110 2.8, in Oz Brought the 90 home from Switzerland ... |

I just got the Ashcroft ATB diffs and bearings pre pressed as I wanted to check and rebuild the final drives as required. It will give me a chance to check for wear on the R & P, bearing etc, and I will replace them if required as well as letting me set the pre-load and backlash to get a better understanding of how the transmission is set up on my Puma. The priority just now is the rear diff as I am waiting on Ashcroft to get ABS CV joints back into stock before doing the front diff, as you say Steve the cv joints need to come out to remove the front drive shafts before I can remove the diff so it made sense to me to replace the cv joints and drive shafts at the same time. As I am doing the rear diff it also made sense to me to fit new callipers, discs and pads all round, Timken wheel bearings all round, Ashcroft rear HD drive shafts and flanges, replace the SS boost pipe hoses with Samco XDB ones, fit the Eberspacher heater in the under cubby heater box, fit the nakatanenga fuel tank pick up pipe( rear wheels are off giving better access), fit an additional fuse box and once that's done give the underside its yearly coating of waxoil. Amazing how much extra gets added to the list when all that was needed was a simple diff swap!!

@bpman: No need to drop the fuel tank with the Nakatanenga fuel pick up. It fits between the top hoses with an internal pipe that feeds down into the fuel tank

Put this back on after ages, nothing exciting really but I had to repair the panel as it was bent in!
That'll be the last time I tow anyone out of a pickle though goodwill. The good news is it's back to perfect. Click image to enlarge |

Bit of a rebel with that and the naughty number plate then! Nothing on mine, but found some oil starting to go through the loom. So will try and get that sorted while its in the early stages. |
