Having fitted Diff Guards - Steering Guard and some Paddock Bumperettes to my 90 I'm thinking of a snorkel.
How do you get the Plastic Air Intake Grill OFF? Which Snorkel would members recommend? NOT for really deep water - more to cope with water splash than deep wading. We do get some flooded roads around here and it has been known for oncoming inconsiderate/stupid drivers to speed through sending a great wave over the car and of course the Air Intake is on the drivers side right in the path of the wave. Any help much appreciated. |

Cannot find anything about the Air Intake Grill.
There doesn't seem to be any definite decision with regards to snorkels. Seems to be mainly down to aesthetic taste. As they all seem to do what's on the tin. Just as an aside. I had searched the forums but the search engine is not that intuitive. |

8 small (2mm) plastic pins which break off if you are too rough with them (like i was). 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

There's no real consensus around which RAI is best. Most people either have the mantec plastic jobby or safari. Mantec is cheaper and easier to fit but safari is more water tight (it's components stretch further back towards the air box).
Looks are purely subjective. I have the mantec and am very pleased with it - although watch for the self tapping screws on the A pillar coming loose over time (applies to both brands). Both will do what you suggest you need it for (very sensible). If you want to go deep water wading, buy a 200tdi. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

Thanks alantd. saw a 90 with the Mantec up close yesterday. Think it will do the job nicely.
I can feel a note to Father Christmas coming on. |

Long noise pliers in the centre and pull out removes it easy.
Safari is the only snorkel for me! Mike |
