His vehicle is the same as mine a Station Wagon 'XS' that comes with the grill base as standard as it has air conditioning. So any OEM XS air con take off will fit and look the same. Thumbs Up

My first port of call would be here perhaps?

Yes, as K9F says - its just the standard surround on XS models - which is body coloured. Took the opportunity to replace all the screws with stainless variants from Brenden's fine collection while fitting the KBX grill - and gave it a little polish up Smile

To answer your other question - yes its very easy to fit. Even I managed it with my bafoon brain - you will have no trouble.

Is anyone running the JE Engineering "D-type" wheels? They might not be the most practical at 18", but they are soooo pretty....

285 75 16 km2's on black zu alloys, soon to be replaced with standard boosts with these tyres though.
I hate Aviva insurance!

I think Startech in Bottrop sells them, at least they have them on their Defenders, they come with 285/60R18 116V Tires:

Wow, so sexy! I saw that Startech sells them, but they are 500 euro here vs 200 UKP I from JE. I think I would just pick some up on a future trip.

What was the issue..? Dont they like the wider tyres or the rims..?

I tried to insure my Defender with them and they said as I go off-road with it they wouldn't insure me (note: I didn't want them to insure me when off road, but I answered their question honestly). This despite I have two other Land Rovers (D4 and Evoque) insured with them, but the never asked if they went off-road so the issue never came up.

Funny folk at Aviva..Wink

cheers

simon

PS NFU dont have a problem insuring my Defender.

I always declare everything and just pay, but got a bit funny over aftermarket wheels aswell this years. Ill just put the muds on some boosts to keep them relatively happy for the year instead Thumbs Up (was the alloys, they werent fussed about tyres)

ZUs have all the relevant 'approvals' do they not including the German TUV ones? I too have no issues with insurers with either my 10" or 8" wide Mach 5s. Tell your insurers to "Honour your insurance or kiss your swingers!"....and go elsewhere.

I like ZUs they look like Mach 5s...... Laughing

Should do but not worth the hassle at the moment, bought some boosts so I'll whack them on then probably back to zu or some mach 5's next year Smile
