United Kingdom 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Indus Silver
Wet Feet!
My Defender went for a three week holiday to get some corrosion sorted and sealed up from leaking into the front footwells last summer, before its third birthday and warranty ending.

They seem to have just ran tiger seal between the windscreen frame and bulkhead where the soft gasket it.

What is the likly cause of the leak? (common problem area on tdci) the tiger seal joint, although not ideal, looks ok as a joint and not conducive with how fast the drips are, both footwells.

Any thoughts
Kevin

Will it have to come out, or can something be done with it in?

Thank

If your corrosion work involved the windscreen 'hinges' and seams as mine did, they'll have removed the windscreen.

Refitting the screen (which is likely to have been done by one of the usual 'specialist' firms) is much easier if one of the seal lips is hacked off all the way round.

They'll then have tried to make up for this by toshing mastic in places.

It will never seal properly though.

I found this out when Dave of VGS nee Landyglass took mine out and showed me.

I did tell the LR dealer, who hadn't realised what had been done in their name. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop
Now a 2013 110 USW too.

Drivers side could be leaking through bonnet hinge, then dripping in through brake pedal area
Passenger side, again through hinge or just blowing under bonnet then in through nut/bolts that secure the fan

Both fittings at the bottom corners of the windscreen to the bulkhead. I removed them both and sealed underneath.
The joints between panels under the door rubbers near the joint beneath the windscreen

If they sealed the joint under the windscreen without removing the 2 'hinges', probably water is running in there

It has leaked on mine in every place that I have mentioned

Time consuming to fix, but next to no cost and feels really satisfying when done, till your next leak some where else

Dave
