Could anyone teach me how to install this bonnet plastic clip?
does it need screw at the bottom? my was broke and don't know how it was! Click image to enlarge |

Snap the bottom off, this goes under the metal plate, and then the other part pushes into it.

I'm not sure if I'm getting it right, do you mean break it into2 pieces ... Then one piece go under the metal plate? |

Thats right.
Split into two along the indented line about a third of the way along from the left hand side. The smaller bit ( the LH bit) goes under the plate with the longer bit ( the bit on the very left of the image) facing up. The RH piece with the stay clip then pushes into this from above. The metal plate will then be in between the two pieces. I think you could be correct. I believe the official way is the one I detailed and that was how the original clip was on my TD5 so I replaced as it was but now you have mentioned it I may also have put the smaller bit in from the top and pushed the clip into it. I will also have to check tonight. I think the main thing he was missing was the bit about splitting the fixing into two. RF3777, if you follow my method of fixing and you find the lower (smaller part) keeps dropping off the main part of the clip try putting it in from the top with the longer bit facing down and then push the clip into it. I've just fitted a similar brake line clip (into the chassis).
This fitted by breaking into two pieces, putting the lower part in the hole then pushing the top clip part home. Martin 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

I also wondered about this.
In the end I pulled out the snapped catch with mole grips. Then I pushed the new one in so the lower collar was home and flush. Then I got a reasonably thick screwdriver and rested the shaft across the 'cup'. Then just pushed down. It slotted down easily and I think there must be a rivet effect underneath as it was tight. I've broken mine umpteen times.... I ususally just place the whole thing into the mounting hole, then with a decent sized flat blade screwdriver, place it in the "clip" (where the bonnet stay would go) and with a sharp tap of a hammer the whole lot will pop down into place.
