Good luck
Got to be honest, in the 10 years I have had my 90 HT I cant remember when I last ever used my rear was wipe. I take it you have the 99 relay for the front. that is defiantly worth its money.. |

There are threads on here (well, at least one) describing the fitment of a 99 relay into the rear wiper circuit.

I’ve developed a rear wiper wizard which varies the number of wipes on the back and wipes when washing etc.
It’s not plug and play at the current time but it’s all wired at the rear wash/wipe switches and front wiper timer. https://www.defender2.net/shop/defender-re...-p108.html However it’s for the 2002 model on 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

I think the “gizmo” was a loom to fit the 99 relay to the rear wiper. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Some years and several Land Rovers ago, I fitted this kit to the rear door of a TD5 Defender, which gave a fixed 20 second delay:
Click image to enlarge The kit came from an eBay seller and I haven't seen them for a while. It wouldn't be difficult to replicate, though. If you really felt the need, I guess you could replace the relay with a '99' one for ultimate control. That is still for a 2002MY type wiper system with the relay on the back door.
Is your Defender a 02MY (one piece rear door/large radio + switch panel) or an earlier one with the rotary rear wiper switch? 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Sorry, should have said, mines a 51 plate, that originally had the rotary control, ( now on a carling switch )
I’d be very happy of anyone’s wanted to make me one up with cables and a diagram ( for the challenged like me ) and post it, ? Cost plus time and a beer token sound fair although not sure when and where you would spend a beer token just now Thanks all, Never know may even sell a few on here also ? |

It is this simple, use a normal front wiper relay and wire it in like this behind the rear wiper switch in the dash. I have had this set up for years and it is fantastic.

Or take off your rear door panel, remove the standard relay and replace it with a VW Golf relay (i think - need to find the old thread).
Did it on mine years ago and works as an intermittent wiper. 2007 TD5 90 Hard Top |
