Rear aux power socket for dash cam

Morning all,

Can anyone tell me if the aux power socket modification for the rear of a Defender (2.4 / 90 / MY2010) is a permanent live or is it switched with the ignition?

Am thinking about running a dash cam in the rear and plan to use the rear aux socket to power it but would like it to be switched with the ignition.

If you mean the purple wire behind speaker panel [often used for aux power supply] then It's a permanent live feed, not switched. Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Yes that's the one. I've done the mod, but just couldn't remember if it was permanently live or not.

If it is only ignition live will the camera record any parking prangs whilst you are away from the vehicle?

You could always put a little split charge relay in there to make it only come on when the engine is running.

I've been mulling over putting a small battery back there in the lights box to run lights and charge phones from.

ok, so where is this 20A fuse, only have 15 and 30 in there. in the little box that is or is it somewhere else? Cheers

i had confusuion over the fact that mine had a 15A fuse in there! typical LR! Cheers
