Evening all. While I was under my defender today (fitting an uprated rear anti roll bar) I noticed a plastic spacer in between the top two coils of the rear springs. Any ideas what they do? Thanks in advance

Most likely vibration dampening rings.
I fitted some to mine a while back ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter ![]() |

Do they do the same job as the rubber spring isolators? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Another name for the same thing.
On 90's you can use the ones for the front on the rear as the rear springs on a 90 are the same size as the fronts. They are like a castellated rubber ring with a metal inner which slots inside the top of the spring. On a 110 or 130 the rear springs are heaver duty and wider so they cant use the front isolators which in my opinion are slightly better. They are more like a rubber sleeve which clips over the top of the spring. The difference it makes is only marginal, but still worth doing. ![]() Click image to enlarge Front 90/110/130 and rear 90 Left Rear 110/130 Right. It's definitely a factory item. I'll have to have a closer look tomorrow as I'm not sure it sits on the top of the spring more like the second coil down. I'll report back with my finding
