No it's not mine rebuilding it for a customer. It's actually not a 2-Door, but one of the first of the 4 Doors

Changed the 270 spec box into a 280 spec box so the central locking will work. Had a few of these about so did two this evening.
270 10 AS immobiliser box Click image to enlarge Split the box in half to get at the circuit board. The easiest way is to slip a screw driver in this way round and push the tabs down, if you try it the other way round you'll damage the locators. Click image to enlarge Inside the 270 box Click image to enlarge Inside a 280 box notice the extra rectangular relay and Blue MOV Click image to enlarge Here is where the relay goes next to the other relay, you'll need to desolder the 8 joints to affix the relay. Click image to enlarge And this is where you'll add the MOV to protect the Relay you just need to place the MOV on top and heat up the exsiting solder and maybe add a bit more. Click image to enlarge MOV in Place Click image to enlarge Relay in place and soldering done Click image to enlarge Two boxes side by side all I need to do is pop the lid on and program it with the autologic fingers crossed. Pleased to say it works perfectly, best mod I've ever done for £8 and a bit of time with the soldering iron.

Nothing a bit of spit and polish can't fix.
Already picked up a set of 5 genuine ones the day I bought it, thanks though. |

Fitted two new steering shaft UJ's to replace the bottom one which had some play and was knocking over the bumps which I couldn't take any longer
Also fitted two new rear mudflap brackets today, I'll send the originals off to the galvanisers and powder coaters with some stainless cap head set screws. Ordered some Spot Lights, aux fuse box and a jump start kit, heated mirror, 12v sockets and a few other goodies too. On thing to consider when upgrading the 10as unit for central locking is that you don't get the safety unlock in the event of an accident - from L/R Topix
The inertia switch is the block on the top left of the picture of the 280 alarm/locking unit. |
