My 90 Td5 XSish CSW
Here's my Td5 90 XS spec CSW i built this onto a Galvanised chassis about 4 or 5 years ago and after regretting ever selling it i bought it back at the end of last week.

All ready started scheming what mods im going to do and have fixed a few annoyances already. Unfortunatley i don't think the last owner ever washed it Rolling Eyes and it needs a trip to the bodyshop to get a few front panels re-done. A set of vent flap seals and new front door seals. A set of lights on the roof rack and a few subtle amber strobes and something to store all my gear in which is a real pain in these bulkheadless CSWs. The mud flap brackets have gone rusty and I've a new set arriving tomorrow too.

I need to take the 10 AS box out and change it into a 280 spec box asap as the central locking not working is already annoying me no end, i have the relay and bits sitting here i i can find the time to get the soldering iron out.

I built this how i wanted it at the time XS spec without the aircon crap.

Mammouth chequer plate wing top and sills

Alarm Tracker

Genuine Rear tow step (which needs to go as i tow a fair bit and it's not up to the job)

Genuine Mats and carpet inside.

Rear tie down eyes

Genuine Tomb raider side steps which are off to get the silver chequer redone in black

ZU Alloys

Genuine Expedition Roof Rack

General Grabber ATs

Heated seats

Heated front screen which needs wired in

Electric windows

Custom IRB developments Re-map which is still as good as i remember Thumbs Up

Few mods I have planned:

280 AS box

Wolf Wheels

More work and spot lights

Amber strobes

Drop hitch

Rear USB ports

Rear storage

Upgrade the audio

Bigger intercooler

Interior Labcraft lights

Heated mirrors

Reversing/hitching camera

LED head lights

Mud stuff overhead console

Mud stuff front dirt-defenders.

No it's not mine rebuilding it for a customer. It's actually not a 2-Door, but one of the first of the 4 Doors

Changed the 270 spec box into a 280 spec box so the central locking will work. Had a few of these about so did two this evening.

270 10 AS immobiliser box

Split the box in half to get at the circuit board. The easiest way is to slip a screw driver in this way round and push the tabs down, if you try it the other way round you'll damage the locators.

Inside the 270 box

Inside a 280 box notice the extra rectangular relay and Blue MOV

Here is where the relay goes next to the other relay, you'll need to desolder the 8 joints to affix the relay.

And this is where you'll add the MOV to protect the Relay you just need to place the MOV on top and heat up the exsiting solder and maybe add a bit more.

Relay in place and soldering done

Two boxes side by side all I need to do is pop the lid on and program it with the autologic fingers crossed.

Pleased to say it works perfectly, best mod I've ever done for £8 and a bit of time with the soldering iron.

Nothing a bit of spit and polish can't fix.

Already picked up a set of 5 genuine ones the day I bought it, thanks though.

Fitted two new steering shaft UJ's to replace the bottom one which had some play and was knocking over the bumps which I couldn't take any longer Confused

Also fitted two new rear mudflap brackets today, I'll send the originals off to the galvanisers and powder coaters with some stainless cap head set screws.

Ordered some Spot Lights, aux fuse box and a jump start kit, heated mirror, 12v sockets and a few other goodies too.

On thing to consider when upgrading the 10as unit for central locking is that you don't get the safety unlock in the event of an accident - from L/R Topix

Quote:
The anti-theft system module also incorporates an internal inertia switch. In the event of an impact of sufficient severity to trigger the inertia switch when the ignition switch is in position II, the anti-theft system module will unlock all doors and operate the hazard flashers. The anti-theft system module will remain in this mode of operation for 2 minutes. To de-activate the hazard flashers and restore the anti-theft system module to its normal mode of operation, the ignition switch should be turned to position 0 and back to position II after the 2 minute period has expired.

The inertia switch is the block on the top left of the picture of the 280 alarm/locking unit.

Colour matched my steering wheel badge and gear/transfer box knobs Cool

Combo of brush, cocktail sticks, cotton buds and some thinners to wipe off the excess when it is nearly dried.
