Dripping water from left hand side under heater box
Hi All

Long time no speak Shocked

Hope you are all doing OK ?

Just spotted some dripping water coming from under the plastic covers bolted to the left hand side of the bulkhead

I guess thats all the fans and radiotors for heating within the beast?

Might it be easily repairble by me? but more importantly, should i do the drive home this afternoon (24 miles of M4) with this slight leak, will i get any warning on the dash if a hose collapses entirely, I guess the heating side of the truck is also the engine cooling also?

Thoughts would be appreciated Bow down

Is it (rain) water or cooling fluid? If the drain of the air inlet in the wingtop is blocked, rain water can enter the ventilation/heating system. If it is a leak in the cooling system you can smell cooling fluid (sweet smell). Cheers, Vincent

Hi VeeTee

I forgot to mention, it does just look like rainwater, its not coloured orange at all and has no smell, so it could be rain water i guess, is that a common place for water to build up then ?

Just been to have another look, and i would say 99% sure it is rain water, unless my garage is failing to put engine coolant in the beast on servicing Shocked

I had the same scenario last week.
Drove home from work, parked up and took dogs out.
Upon returning I noticed a wet patch towards front of vehicle on the left side.
Definitely just water, no smell or discolour, then remembered it had rained earlier on in the day.
As my drive is slightly sloped down I reckoned that whatever water that had been trapped in a 'recess'
was now dripping out due to the slope of the driveway.
Needless to say it dried up.

I had exactly the same recently, it was a build up of rain water in the heater air intake, I also park on a slope, but also found some sludge in the intake drain....

We had a leak on drivers side and passenger on our 2014 110. Dealer fitted new bulkhead seal that fixed drivers side leak that dripped down onto accelerator then onto mat but didn't fix passenger side. Car returned to them for a windscreen seal that they replaced and liberally applied a black silicone sealant in it and fingers crossed all now dry!

I was going to just live with it and accept it as a Defender trait - our older TD5 leaked too! But when the water started turning a rusty colour I decided to perceiver with the dealers and glad its sorted Very Happy
