Fantastic Defender,
Love the glazing and the seats.....Glazing I've got, 'work in progress' on the seats. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

That is a very "noticeable" Defender. Very impressive indeed.
What total mods were done, engine specs? Pickles. |

List of modifications updated above
Wanted to go for the 6-speed, but wanted Ashcroft's. Emailed Dave, but the 6-speed wasn't ready for release anytime soon... |

Proper colour
There is a firm in Exeter meant to be doing a 6 speed conversion,, BUT, like you, would let Dave do it, I will just have to wait a while California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1 Main Brian James Trailer Dealer for South West UK |

How does the auto drive? I'm guessing it's the 4 speed box as fitted to the Discovery 2 TD5 and V8? Always found it a bit lazy in those cars, nice and smooth but seemed to sap a lot of power. Andy

It's the disco 2 box. Nice and smooth throughout but it feels that around 50-60 it has trouble deciding if it should be in 3rd or 4th gear. Like any auto, it takes time to get used to how the auto likes to shift. Won't do that much driving on the motorway, so didn't think I could justify the additional cost of the wildcat 6-speed box. I want to make a trip up to Gary at Alive to see what improvements can be made. Anyone on the forum have had an auto box tuned? |

Gary will know how to get the best from the engine and box as the TD5 was his specialty. The torque converter locks up around 57mph so that will affect the feel. I had a TD5 auto mapped by Gary and it was awesome. Andy
