So, this Defender is a TD5, & not a Puma? I look forward to hearing of you engine mods,......you'll be looking at an intercooler, turbo etc? A "good" engine will really be the finishing touch for a very nice Defender. I've never had any experience at all with a Defender Auto, but I've always had the feeling that a small 4 cyl diesel would "struggle" with an auto in a heavy vehicle like a Defender? Pickles. |

Ok, I know it "looked" like one, but I was mystified by the mention of TD5?
Thanks, Pickles. |

Hello gklau
First the compliment that looks just great... take care you have a special one... ![]() Now a question... ![]() It looks to be and interesting to see it fitted with a NAS rear step... i'm needing to do something similar soon and are looking at the options with the NAS Step fitted. Don't mind a bit of modification but if it is a Mantec did it go straight on without adjustment... ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Also to the forum generally, is this a good bit of kit or not? any other options worth considering with a NAS Step Good Luck in your Truck gklau...a head turner... ![]() https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

Yes,
Well spotted. Forgot to mention the Mantec spare wheel carrier. It is well worth it to take the pressure off the rear door, and also to prevent the door from being opened too wide and damaging the rear quarter panel. But it fitted without any modification. Quite close though! I also got UT to install rear parking sensors which are well worth it. I think that the next job is to get the ECU tuned and I'll be done... For now. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge |

Thanks gklau
Yes agree, I broke 'the back' of the Door on my 300tdi with the mounting of a Spare, it took 10 years to give way but it did result in a strip down and rebuild. The Puma inner Door is stronger with a better load distribution plate but I still think the Spare Carrier is worth the £... Found these also which show the Mantec fitted with a NAS rear step... ![]() ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge 'Done for now'.... oooh there's no finish line unfortunately... ![]() but you have compressed the gradual re-specification into a big first step, so well done... ![]() Good Luck with the 'Red Devil' SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

What a lovely looking Defender, you must be well pleased.
Ive been looking at the same suspension set up. Currently have 16 inch sawtooths on 235/85/16 but love the look of the 18's and a lower profile tyre seem to suit the car better. What's it like overall to drive with the lowering springs and B6 options. Can I also ask a really silly question there is a kind of method to my madness, what's its overall height. My other motive for lowering is to get it in the garage with my overland roof rack on! I would rather spend the money on upgrading the landie than buying a new garage door or modifying that! |

Suspension setup is great on the road, feels quite planted on the rear around roundabouts. Initially felt a bit harsh especially over speed bumps, but dropped the pressures in the tyres to 30 psi in the front and 33 psi in the rear and now feels just about right.
Height overall was quoted as 1.95 metres, haven't yet managed to measure the actual height, but just fits in my garage (within centimetres) with and up and over door. Hope that helps. When I get a chance, I'll measure the actual height. |

thanks for coming back, im tempted by the look and handing improvements alone, mine sits at 199.5 so probably the mod alone wont assist without garage surgery!!
Loving the car thanks again |
