Interesting.
They certainly weren't up to quite recently, which was of course something of a snag, however that does rather suggest that they are now. I suggest that you email Dixon Bate and ask them, that way you will get the definitive answer. Please let us know what they say. There'll be a lot of happy Disco and Defender owners if they now are type approved! |

What you have to think about is does the type approval apply to new build, from a certain date ,or is it retrospective. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

Good point, don't think they are serial numbered so would assume that it would be hard to establish a manufacture date.

If I remember right when they made the tow bars part of the M.O.T. test I'm sure that I was told that if a vehicle is presented for the test and the tow bar has to have the approval sticker/plate attached if not it is a fail. There was something about tow balls and the tow ball with a pin through it but I cannot remember what was said, I have been out and looked at the three I have and they have numbers cast into them but do not have a clue what they mean. Don't make old people mad.

for it to be type approved it has to have the sticker on it so it can checked , as far as I know without the sticker its not type approved , if you know what im talking about or in other words you cant remove the sticker
don't know what happens if it comes off during pressure washing etc seens pretty stupid to me , but as far as I know its right |

Does that certificate apply only to those produced after March 2013.? Don't make old people mad.
