AS long as the design hasn't changed, the type approval would (I should think) be valid for all. However, it is quite possible that to be 100% legal you need the E11 sticker on the pintle.
If so, my thought is that is you could argue that the sticker came off in the pressure washer since in the absence of a serial number or date stamp it would it would be hard to argue otherwise. That being said, I am not sure (since life is too short to study all the regs) whether the E mark must be permanent, or only present at point of sale and/or fitment. If the latter, there are unlikely to be any problems. It ought to be evident even to the most dense of enforcement officers that the presence of the E11 sticker does not materially alter the safety of the pintle! |

I have a similar (and possibly inferior) type of combined 50mm tow ball and NATO combination hitch which I use for Sankey and caravan. It's mounted to a Dixon bate style slider and I've had it now on three different Landys. When I go for the MOT, I don't have it fitted because I only mount it when I need it. I've never had a problem with this and just a couple of weeks ago my 07MY 110 passed like this. If it ain't fitted, they can't surely assess it.

Hi
this is really helpful, thank you It's good news re the hitch. what about the ring fitted to the sankey trailer and trailer itself, though? what's the legal position? do they have to be built after a certain date to comply? 2.2 Tdci 110 XS CSW Corris Grey Prince Harry's D3 (gone but not forgotten) 300 Tdi 110 CSW (gone but not forgotten) |

I don't worry about that sort of thing. I only use my Sankey a few times a year and that ring is not going to fall off, it's much stronger than most little trailers sold today. As long as it's safe, I'm happy.
