Wiring diagram 1993 90, 200TDi
Learned Ones,

I seek counsel. I have just bought a 93 90. Very happy bear. It came with a Haynes joke book. I have been looking at the centre dash ( where you would normally find the clock, rear wash wipe and cigarette lighter ) but can't match up any of the wiring with the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual. Only the lighter socket is still there but the green and black leads connected to it aren't shown in the Haynes. Similarly there are strange plugs on what I take is the old radio harness - certainly not ISO fittings.

I have attached a couple of pics below. Can anyone point me in the direction of a wiring diagram that relates to this wiring please.

I tried searching the forum but couldn't find anything related. Apologies if I have missed something obvious.

Thanks in anticipation

From memory the purple is a permanent +12V and the white is an ignition switched +12V

Excellent thanks. Multi-meter confirms purple is permanent +12v. There's an awful lot of brown wires back there - anyone any idea on those please ?

Brown is live from battery un-fused/switched from memory but not necessarily plugged in at the other end to anything.

200Tdi's never had Iso plugs from new so you would have to wire them in yourself.

If you can hang on till tomorrow I can have a look at mine and send a proper photo of how mine is wired Thumbs Up

I have a similar wireing behind mine- yet to find a use for it!

With regards the extra plugs and wires, I seem to remember reading somewhere that the 200Tdi loom was a modified TD loom so has lots of plugs and bits left over from when it was just a TD.

These then got cleaned up and away with the 300Tdi as well as better plugs and more dedicated looms. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Shaggydog,

Superb mate thanks. The more I look at my loom the more credible the ex-TD loom sounds Smile
Think I'm going to split the "plug" containing the permanent and switched +12v that I think was for the original radio and use those feeds for my clock and possibly later a stereo. Don't have all the wires you have shown there.

Thanks again for your help.

Shaggy,

On your pics above you have cig lighter on LHS, what I assume is a clock in the middle but what is it in the RHS position ?

Got some sound deadening in and the dash lower - just got to sort out the wiring. Touch wood, looking good !

Thanks for your help
