Recall - Wheel Hub
Had a phone call from the stealers service dept yesterday for a warranty recall. She couldnt really give me too much detail over the phone but has sent the below through in an email

During ongoing quality assessment of our product it has been identified that a possible safety related defect may be present on certain Land Rover vehicles within a specific production range. Please read the information below, this will explain the actions that we intend to take and what you will need to do;
Reason for this programme
Jaguar Land Rover has received through its Global Concern Management (GCM) system reports that indicate customers have experienced a loud noise, followed by severe vehicle vibration and wheel lock up.
Upon investigation it was identified that certain fixings used in the front and rear hub assemblies on Defender vehicles may have overly brittle bolts installed. Should brittle bolts be present, there is a risk that in service they could fracture. Due to the enclosed condition of the hub assembly a fractured bolt could cause secondary damage to other bolts and components. In the case of the front brakes, the broken fixings could puncture the front brake disc, leading to loss of structural integrity and the brake disc could fracture. Furthermore, the fixings that secure the hub fixings to the axle may be damaged to the extent where the hub is no longer fully secured to the axle.
In this condition, if extreme braking occurs, the anti-lock braking system will not compensate for the braking imbalance and vehicle stability will be compromised.
Wheel lock up or braking instability could significantly increase the risk of a crash.
What Jaguar Land Rover Limited and your Land Rover authorised repairer will do
At your visit, your preferred Land Rover authorised repairer will replace all the specific bolts within wheel hub assembly. This will be completed on both front and rear wheels. If damage is observed the retailer will replace all associated components.
How long will it take?
The work on your vehicle will be carried out as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to minimise inconvenience to you and will take approximately five hours to complete. However, due to your Land Rover authorised repairer schedules, your vehicle may be required for longer.
If you have concerns
If you experience any concerns relating to this Voluntary Recall, please contact the Service Manager at your authorised repairer for assistance or contact the Jaguar Land Rover Limited Customer Relationship Centre on 0370 5000 500
This Recall Action is being undertaken in accordance with the legislative or industry requirements concerning vehicle defects. The authorities will closely monitor the response rate of this Recall Action.
Please treat this matter with the urgency it requires. Jaguar Land Rover Limited apologises for any inconvenience this Voluntary Recall may cause and thank you, in advance, for your co-operation.

A friend had the same problem on a 300 tdi Disco front wheel locked up and a broken stid punched through the hub. Good job he was only driving slowly as he had just pulled out of the yard at work.
