What do people think the resale value will be in about 2 years?
Reason I ask is I'm toying with changing my current MY15 D4 to a one of these, I'm concerned the D4 will be worth nothing when new D5(or whatever they call it) is launched. So I'm thinking is get one of these and hope it keeps its value or gains some. 90 TD5 County Hard top MY2006 D4 HSE MY2015 Please sponsor me at www.bmycharity.com/bdrt Do more with your 4x4 Join www.volunteer4x4.org If it moves funk it, and if doesn't, funk it till it does |

I think you've got it spot on there Steve, Defender's have always held their value well compared to other 4X4's and I think that they will continue to do well on the used market when production ceases.
It's a fair point you make about the specialness (is that a word!) of the limited editions although I think initially that anybody wanting to sell won't lose any money. The only way they will appreciate in the long term is if you lock one away and never use it but what a waste that would be.... |

Mines going to be loved, pampered, rarely seen and lots of polishing.
My 110 on the other hand is going to be used all the time and maybe even for the purposes it was made for |

The specialness is a interesting one as that is why I ordered a xs, considered a heritage and had a chance but decided it was going to be used as it was intended for and I couldn't do that to a special edition and yet it wasn't wow enough to just press the button and worry later.

Rog
I can't even think of a house move if I want to have the two. It's already cost me a trip for the wife to NewYork in November. Only saving grace is I'm not going |

Not sure I would be permitted to keep two - unless I can talk her into driving one instead of the Golf...
I am guessing in November you will still be like a child with a new toy - who wants to go to scabby NY when new toys are available... Anyway, I am thinking down-size to pay for them, SWMBO will want to up-size, of course... Rog... The GREEN One... Steve, this will be my 3rd RRS, I took delivery of a 2.7TDv6 SE a week after launch in 2005, replaced it with a 3.6TDv8 in 2007 and then wanted another 3.6 only to find that it was dropped from the range............. so I bough a 2010MY RR L322 Vogue with one of the last 3.6TDV8 engines. While it was a lovely car it was not a great handler and the brakes were almost non-existant after the TDv8 RRS's Brembos. I still have a 1996 Defender 300 TDi 90 on the drive as well. I will just have to make the 90 last longer as the RRS has a problem with getting suitable AT/MT tyres and while everybody tells me that with it's Terrain Response 2 and 22" wheels it will go most places I know that M&S tyres are not a patch on AT's or MT's when the going gets wet under tyre and the treads start to become slicks...... no amount of clever electronics has yet been able to get around that problem! I have managed to source some tiny 20" wheels and AT's though so myRRS will be getting more offroad use than the other 99% of them! Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |
