How in-car technology is putting your life at risk?
Just got this email WRONG. In car technology is NOT putting your life at risk. What is putting your life at risk is inappropriate use of mobile devices etc when driving. Passing the buck from stupid/illegal actions by drivers and blaming the gadgets is simply WRONG Now what is the saying about common sense being not so common? Brendan |

See it all the time people texting while driving, though I have to say it mainly young people who I see do it.
How do you stop it not as you say by blaming the device and no matter what punishment you introduce certain people will still keep doing it? Although if it is as dangerous as the email says that texting while driving reduces reaction times to the equivalent of being three times over the drink-drive limit, then anyone caught texting while driving should receive a ban on driving equivalent to the same sentence for drunk driving. That said, the amount of cars now which have a big flashy touch screen with lots of menus rather than a button you can find without looking away from the road is something I take issue with. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

It should indeed be banned, BT or ideally pull over is best if it really is necessary.
And not pull over in a dangerous place. |

This ^^^^ I have had to do at least 2 emergency stops in the high street because the car in front has anchored up and swerved onto the pavement to pick up a call Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

Guns don't hurt anybody, its the bullets that they fire that are the problem For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Funnily you don't get posts about people driving and smoking! I wonder why? Isn't it dangerous for people to be lighting s cigarette or a bloody pipe whilst driving snd how many pilchards do you see trying to manoeuvre a car whilst either holding a fag betwixt their pinkies or stuck in their gob like a dummy and squinting because the foo kin smoke is getting in their eyes? I'm not condoning either texting or talking on a phone but if one is being criminalised then the other should be.
And yes you are right I am a non smoker. Uncas |

As a smoker I do feel that your post was a little harsh, but yes I do take your points and they are valid. There is the fact that with the anti-smoking lobby pressurising the powers that be, smoking in all works vehicles is banned. Also smoking in any vehicle with minors under 16 years will be banned in Wales from October. So that'll be another thorn in your side removed.
