Have you tried the LR premium seats? I'm not sure that they would reduce vibration significantly, but they have better bolstering and have integrated head restraints. Theoretically, that would be an easy one for you to test in the vehicle by just arranging a test drive in a 110 with the premium seats fitted. I wonder if it is worth looking at options that have adjustable lumbar support? I think the Exmoor Trim Elite seats have that (don't know if the LR premium seats do). 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

No lumbar adjustment fitted to the LR Premium seats as standard but I'm sure LRI or FCX could add it in for you. Have you considered fitting anti vibration isolation rubber mounts to your seats, might be worth a try as a simple and cheap solution.

I was going to suggest that, but then thought it perhaps isn't a very good idea to have your seats fixed to the vehicle by just the glue that bonds the rubber part to the metal threaded part? Unless someone does some that are designed specifically for the purpose? I would be worried that in the event of an accident the seat would just part company with the seat rails. A big part of it is down to the quality of the mount. I have used these things in the past for various applications including isolating the fuel pumps on my Bowler but I have always used UK or European manufactured parts with the steel fixings bonded properly into the rubber bushing personally I think its a case of spending a bit of time sourcing the correct items.

You could try re fitting your seat runners on top of a thick sheet of rubber which may absorb some of the vibration.

Can be retro fitted to most seats The Pneumatic Lumbar is a great addition, giving the driver or passenger the option to adjust the seat back centre support pad to suit your own required shape and position. The lumbar pad inflates simply by squeezing the inflatable ball until you reach the desired shape and to release the pressure simply press the button in front of the ball. It is not the back that is causing the problem it is the vibration getting to the neck.
I was thinking of putting rubber between the seat rails and the box to see if that was a better feel or better foam in the base. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to  us off.

Is there any way in which it might be possible to fit an HGV-style air suspension seat in a Defender?
I have never heard of it being done, but I bet someone somewhere has managed it! |

We have scheelman seats fitted to the white 90 - you are more than welcome to have a try with them to see if they would do for you.

I recently swapped the standard seats for front seats from a Mazda RX8.
Full leather, electric powered and heated, with lumbar support. Very comfortable and supportive and a great cushioned effect. Takes the shakes out of the road. I have lowered stiffer suspension in mine and these seats take the edge right of the harsh ride. For £150 on eBay they are easy to find, and only take a bit of fiddling to fit. |

Having looked into this ..You have three options stratos seats from australia which fit the defender and are spring loaded/dampened http://www.stratos.com.au/Page/land-rover-defender-seat the problem is im not sure if they are eu rated and the cost of postage The other is from the off road market (corbeau ..opm..ect)in the us ...these are simply a seat where the seat bottom is held in place with bunji cord and thus giving you some suspension....but not like the stratos http://www.corbeau-seats.com/Baja%20XRS Good points they are cheap bad thay are a big lump and poor quality but they might do a job!You are limited in choice as you need them to be high backed for uk market! Some uk companies import these( and the premium one they do is the best)) I could find the link if you want.....the problem with these I think (you can get a a corbeau fitting kit for defender) is the american arse is too fekking wide so fitting in a defender may be a problem! Thirdly you could try one of these: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/pro..._200487876 I think they could be made to fit and would work provided you dont need seat risers...They can be found on e bay and some firms export to uk for a reasonable price! Jomaras idea is the cheapest and worth a try.... From a cost point of view i will be trying the the cheapest increasing to the most costly which is the stratos but if its a choice between losing my defender or bribing pickles to smuggle me some stratos seats in from australia................well bung it is! I havent contacted stratos yet but if you do can you posta reply or pm me perhaps we could have a group buy australian style . lastly vibration in neck from defender would not be my first thought unless you are getting the pain further dowh the back as well..anyway good luck! If you got rid of the seat box it is possible....Im supprised some after market firm has not taken this up as there is a market! or even importing the stratos seats from australis!Come on sponsers there is money to be made  |

Who told you its the vibration getting to your neck?Your neck sits on top of the vertebral column and by its nature is more flexible the lower bones are thicker and less able to move and are affected more by vibration............while vibration does not help i would be looking at your driving posture first..are you tall ..are you favouring one side than the other could you raise the cubby box to rest your arm on....are you stooped looking through windscreen......Did they fixate any of your vertebra do you get arm symptoms hand symptoms tingling ect .....get a second opinion!before you spend your dosh... |

I'm not sure that "vibration" is the cause of your issue.
But, the solid "ride", "pitching" motion of the Defender over bumpy roads ove a period of time maybe an issue, in which case seat "mounting" ain't gonna make any difference. I'd see your Doc, & see what He says,...you've obviously had Xrays? Pickles. . |
