if you've got a new one reading 0, couldn't you just connect it up to a pulse generator to fake the wheels going round lots of times? Shouldn't be too hard! Either program it to just stop after the correct number of pulses or guess when it's going to stop and hope for the best.

Alas according to my local main dealer (Hunters) the mileage cannot be reset on these older vehicles

According to your Pumas age you should have at least two Mot’s with recorded mileage stated, these along with an itemised invoice and description of the work carried out by the garage in replacing the speedo, which should also include the recorded mileage should be evidence enough that nothing dodgy is going on re mileage if you decide to sell the vehicle in future. Agreed. I have all the paperwork.
The only issue is if someone runs a National Mileage Register check then it will show a discrepancy. I will contact them to ask them about this type of situation. Mark |
