@ZeDefender. Matt when you fitted the barrel shroud did you ensure the face of the ignition was tight against the shroud?? The reason I am asking is that I have one of these key fobs and it definitely works on my Puma with a X Eng ignition barrel shield fitted?

Yes, it's tight up against it. I suspect it might be a bit hit-and-miss depending on your key... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

I just double-checked and there is less than 1/2 mm gap:
![]() Click image to enlarge Is this a different ignition barrel design to yours? My original key is quite a bit longer and I don't know the tolerances but even if some keys just catch and turn I still wouldn't take the risk of getting stranded, as some Puma locks are a bit "iffy". I couldn't see any way of modifying it and since Nak had kept up their end of the bargain, I just binned it. Luckily the original key and the empty fob are sent back with the flip so it only took a few seconds to put everything back to normal. When I originally fitted the shroud I noticed there was a couple of mil clearance from the LR key and the shroud
![]() Click image to enlarge And when I measured the LR key the shank length is 45mm, the new fob shank is exactly the same length hence why I have had no issues with the Nakatanenga key fob and the X Eng barrel shroud. ![]() Click image to enlarge HTH  Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() |

![]() ![]() Although, admittedly, I no longer have the Nakatanenga key to measure it. I discounted the possibility of it being cut badly as it unlocked the door. It was definitely shorter though as I checked at the time. Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Whilst this may be a convenient and handy modification does anybody actually consider the security implications in the event of key theft?

Although I agree with your point. How many people actually keep them separate? My guess is very, very few.
I have enough trouble finding one set of keys, let alone two. They are of course always where I left them!! ![]() ![]() |
