Well took the plunge yesterday and ordered a smaller wheel and boss from Alive.

Now have to look forward to getting the old one off as I'm told the 36 spline wheels can a P.I.A. to get off, big rubber hammer on stand by.

Anyone know if the nut has a torque setting? Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

Mine was impossible to get off by hand. Didn't matter what I did! Hit it with everything I had available, nearly gave myself several hernias and then decided to just buy a puller off eBay. Came off instantly with that - infact I was a little disappointed just how easily it came off when I'd had such a frustration-filled day trying to remove it without the puller. So my advice - get a puller! You can borrow mine if you like. 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

Did you try holding it at 3 and 9 and rocking back and forwards pushing down on one side while pulling up on the other several time over and over and visa versa ........it works for the 48 spline model.

During my enquiries prior to purchase everyone I spoke to said "Oh 36 spline you are going to have problems getting the old one off, they are a P.I.A." Don't make old people mad.

If you want to borrow a wheel puller let me know. I have one here and it has worked on 48 spline and 36 spline without any problems at all Thumbs Up
