GAP Diagnostic – new vehicle coverage announcement
Hi Everyone

My name is Patrick and I am part of the team here at GAP Diagnostic. Since 2011, we’ve been working on developing and providing diagnostic solutions for Land Rover owners. As of now, we are covering Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Discovery 3-4, Freelander 2 and Range Rover Evoque vehicles. We offer the regular IIDTool and IIDTool BT for individual usage. The second one is fitted with a Bluetooth Smart transceiver and allows connecting a mobile device (phone, tablet) to the tool. For more details, please visit our website at:

http://www.gap-diagnostic.com/

We are now in the process of adding more vehicles to the supported list. This also implies that the IIDTool BT and IIDTool Pro will now enter a new beta testing phase in the coming weeks for the Puma Defender 2007-2015.

Since these vehicles were not supported previously, we are now looking for new beta testers to join and participate in polishing the firmwares. Upon joining, new members will receive close support throughout and also benefit from our pre-sale offer.

On release, the following functions will be supported:

Standard diagnostic functions (not VIN locked, works on all supported models, L316, L319,L320,L322,L359,L405,L494,L538)
• Faults read / clear (All ECU’s)
• Live values
• Control outputs
• Service / test functions (service interval reset, etc)

Enhanced diagnostic functions ( VIN locked, extra VINs are available if needed):
• Component and system calibration (under development)
• Car Configuration File editing capability (under development)
• Advanced functions including backup / restore functions

More functions will be added as development progresses, including ECU re-flash. Also, since only an IIDTool BT fitted with a Bluetooth transceiver is available for these vehicles, it will have to be used in conjunction with one of the following devices:

•iPad Mini
•iPad 3rd gen and up
•iPhone 4S, 5 and up
•iPod Touch 5 and up
•Android devices (please contact us whit your device specs to know if it is supported

If you would like to join or have any questions, please send us an e-mail at the following address GAPTeam AT gap-diagnostic.com or reply to this post.

Cheers!

What modules are you aiming to incorporate in your tool for the Defender Puma? Will you include the 10AS and WABCO ABS modules or will it just cover the EMS and IPAC on the CANBUS? Ideally being able to carry out a pilot correction and fuel pump learn would be greatly advantages on the PCM/ECM module for DIY users as it is generally the more dedicated diagnostic tools, IDS, SDD MSV2 etc etc that is required to perform these functions.

Hi Patrick, having seen the work you've done on the D3 forum, its great to see you bringing this to the lowly Defender.

I don't currently own an IIDTool, however I will consider one now and will be prepared to participate in the beta test program.

Please PM me with further details.

Hi Guys

PMs sent, thanks!

To answer Lorryman100 questions:

Quote:

Currently, we are concentrating our efforts on the ECU present on the CAN bus but since the Defender is a pretty simple platform, the tool will be able to perform all diagnostic tasks once development is completed. This includes the ECUs present on the single wire iso bus (Rosco protocol…).

These are on the to do list for the 2.4L, pretty simple to add so it wont take long. The following routines are currently covered (and tested) for the 2.2L engine:

-Clear Adaption
-DPF replacement reset
-DPF value reset
-Flow meter replacement reset (Mass Air Flow)
-Oil counter reset
-Turbo replacement reset

Live Value wise, both engine are covered and the ABS (CAN network only) also. Of course, fault reading and clearing is supported. CCF and ECU Re-flash will be available shortly.

Questions are more then welcomed Thumbs Up

Thanks for the reply. How much will the tool cost me if I volunteered and was accepted as a beta tester?

I'd be interested depending on cost.

As with Lorryman, the injector and VCV stuff is of interest and I'd also like to be able to look at the 10AS.

I'd have bought a non-VIN locked Nanocom by now if it would do the injectors and VCV.

I have various Android devices that I can use and am pretty competent with electronics (I have a degree in- and a job designing electronics after all!).
