Only got away with the Heritage as I had a deposit down already and it's a van for work Laughing

Don't you love defenders? They are as individual as their owners. Rolling with laughter

There is no right and no wrong. Just what works for you.

It all comes down to what you want. I nearly went for the heritige myself but went down the Keswick XS in the end, simply for the fact I want it as my everyday car so it will work and play and I would be gutted if I scratched a heritige. Thinking of a td5 heritige as my toy to compensate

Hi Roger,

There have been some valid points made regarding your situation and I can understand people recommending that you order a non heritage defender to your exact specification, this does make sense and you would probably get a discount off list price....... However, I think long term the heritage will hold it's value better than any other defender and probably be more sought after.
If you can live without air con ( I hardly ever use it on my everyday car, I use heated seats far more which the heritage does have) I would definately order a heritage be it a HT or SW. If you stick with the HT the loadspace could be upgraded as suggested previously which I know would add cost but then again the HT is thousands cheaper to begin with!
If I were in your position I would hold on to my order for the HT but as you have said to your dealer if a chance to swap your order to a 90SW comes up swap it to that. If you change your order from a heritage to a standard defender now and then a 90 SW became available I am guessing that you may not be then able to do that.

All the best,

Paul

Thank you Paul, all good and valid points and part of the reason I am in the quandary I am!... Rolling Eyes

I am not about to give up on the Heritage that currently has my name on it, just yet, although I would definitely change for the SW if the opportunity did arise!... Mr. Green

Two things I have to do though - drive an HT and physically see Keswick in the flesh... Whistle

Hi Rog,

I think a test drive in a HT would be a really good idea.
I would be really interested to hear what you think once you have driven it with how it compares to your SW.
Have fun!

A factory fresh HT is a 'nasty' driving experience from a 'sound' point of view when compared to a CSW in my opinion.

The lack of floor covering in the rear along with resonance from the side panels is awful BUT, don't forget, in the real world you'll probably have stuff in the back and that will go a long way towards 'absorbing' booming etc.

I just remember picking up my brand new XS HT and as I drove it away from the dealership a nut dropped off one of the bolts holding the rear roof on and rolled across the 'uncovered' rear floor and continued to rattle backwards and forwards all the way home and thinking 'what have I done !'

However it was easily remedied with a spanner on the nut and some sound proofing, carpet etc. now I wouldn't be without it Thumbs Up

The other thing to bear in mind is it isn't impossible to turn the HT into a CSW at a later date.

They just phoned me as I know the chaps and would like it to go to an enthusiast.
If i don't get someone to phone soon it's going to go.
I'm nothing to do with them but have bought numerous cars from them.

yeah, pleased to get a HT version as works out cheap once VAT is reclaimed.
Only problem is I now have to get a garage built to keep it nice Laughing

I still think no option of Aircon is stupid but hey ho.

Great Website, I am new here. Land ROver enthousiast since I was a little kid; long, long time ago.
Lurking around on the web to find any news about the Celebrations series and found the best information here. The day they came out I ordered two.

One is the Autobiography, only five were available for Holland. Had to call around to different dealers to find one available. Worked all out. Still thinking about the color combination, I have some time to decide about that.

The other one I ordered is a Heritage 110. Reading through the information here on this side, I got worried that these cars wouldn't have AC. Just checked my order confirmation though and I have written on paper, and the official LR publication says also that these come with AC in Holland, also Convenience and Cold pack are standard.

Cheers

Well done Prins, with your Autobiography,...not much has been really said about them on the Forum as they really are so rare, the reality is that very few pwople will even get to see one, let alone buy one!

Encouraging for Australia, though I never really doubted they would have AC here. Would be virtually unsellable in this country without AC. Nick

So is it just the UK ones that can't have AC or have I got that wrong and they can?
