Always have the tyres with the best grip on the rear. Understeer is far easier to control than oversteer, with a vehicle with a high centre of gravity such as the Defender you don't want oversteer. I'm a great advocate of the AT2 but for a change fitted Cooper STT. Surprisingly they've good grip even in the wet and were quieter than the GG. I started with nothing and still have most of it left! |

Thanks again guys all very interesting reading.
Having a tot up of my expected outgoings vs my incomings (and a stiff drink to recover) I have decided to be more economical, remembering that I'm going to have to factor in for a steering alignment to cure the uneven wear. So for now I'm going to buy a pair of new Grabber AT2 to replace the rear, take the rear onto the front, then put the best from the front as the spare, then I will have a pair of part warn Bf Goodrich A/T for sale as I currently have one as the spare and the other as a cobweb holder in the shed. Think that makes sense? Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |
