I dont think there are any landmarks,
As I have mentioned on here before, I watch defender prices alot and if there is a bargain to be had I buy it although I arent a dealer. What I do find is there are so many out there that are way over priced by mainly private sellers. I think its a case of looking and looking and looking. Also I would prefer a defender with a pile of service bills from an indy instead of a stamped service book from the main stealers. I used to work for the main dealer and so many vehicles came for service/book stamp but would refuse to have any extra work done so the service book counted for next to nothing. So far as prices of td5 110s go, you shouldnt be anywhere near £10,000 as you can find pumas for that. Good Luck 2003 Td5 90 2013 sport hse 2012 700 raptor quad 2012 siromer 4x4 tractor |

Nick,
Great response, thanks. Although your last sentence may put the brakes on my hopes / make my head ignore my heart! I was hoping to spend well under £10k but one has come up recently from someone I know and he wants more than that. It's 10yrs old but has only done c.40k. That said it is an XS which I never considered before as for me there is just more to go wrong! But again anything in XS around that age varies massively in price from £10k up to £15k!!! Very hard to gauge! Thanks again for that response, Tom. P.s I'd love to know where those Pumas at that price hide!!! |

Will 2nd that said above about main dealer servicing. I find that good Td5 110s are hard to find though and definitely fetch a premium over the puma variant. Took me 18 months to find mine and believe me I looked at many.....

Thanks for your thoughts. On the plus side it has just been fully serviced at an independent but it is really hard to judge, I thought I had a handle on it when I was casually looking but now it could lead to hands going in the pocket I'm less convinced! As we all know that is only the start as I know there a few things I want to sort out on it already...spot light, rust rear work light and so on and on.....!

I think personal choice is the biggest factor here. If you are happy with the xs you have found and dont mind paying 10k go for it.
But just as a comparison I was looking at a 59 plate puma 110 sw basic spec , 37,000miles owned by a university. It was a really nice truck, £10995.00. found it in the Van Trader I suppose you pays your money and makes your choice. 2003 Td5 90 2013 sport hse 2012 700 raptor quad 2012 siromer 4x4 tractor |

I was talking myself round to being happy (despite it being a little more than 10k) but now you've said that!!

There's lots of hot air when talking about second hand prices , but the bottom line is what someone will hand over the ££
I sold a 2007 110 puma with 48k for £14k but it was clean and standard and not covered in cp. Another on the forum for £15k in black, whilst another member trying to sell a 2009 for £25k but heavily modded It's a minefield .. theres td5's on auto trader from £5k upwards... Some have been on sale for a long time Enjoy the search |

I gave just under £5k for mine 3 months ago, chassis is like new, its shiny black still has stickers on it and the bulkhead has no rust. The trader/cowboy I bought it from said the gearbox was knackered
20 mins with spanners setting bias springs cured that Hey presto , a bargain 90. They are out there if you look 2003 Td5 90 2013 sport hse 2012 700 raptor quad 2012 siromer 4x4 tractor |

It's a case of finding the right one at the right price, getting harder every year though, decent mileage with service history isn't easy to find, if an owner's got a good one though they tend to hang onto it, I know - I'm keeping mine!
I did think of swapping it (for another Defender) but after looking around I couldn't find anything to better it. If you do find a nice one then go for it before somebody else does. |

Totally dependent on the individual vehicle I'd say. Family are looking to trade in their 56 plate TD5 90 (silver LE so somewhere between County and XS spec with a few extras) with around 80k on the clock and they were offered £10.8k trade in price at a LR main dealer. Seen private examples of this model going for 13-14k recently.

My 2004 110 CSW, 70k and I'm the 2nd owner.
I wouldn't part with it even if I got offered 'Puma' money, took me forever to find it. |
