Mine was 0.16 this time round, last year was 0.18,
Funny enough, since last re-map [IRB410] it dropped from mid .30's to mid .teens - another bonus Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |

Well mine's not been run much recently, certainly no long runs and has just passed it's first MOT but with a reading of 0.90 m-1. It will have been a cold engine, in the sense that it had not just come in from a long run, it was stood at the dealer's for a couple of days before the test. obviously, it was run up to initial temperature before the test - results sheet say oil temp was 79-80 C.
This looks particularly high in relation to other readings posted here. Any thoughts on whether this is just as a result of lack of recent use or is there something I should be looking at? |

Lack of use usually does it as the soot gathers in the exhaust system. When they accelerate to the governor for the smoke test the soot is blasted out with the high gas flow and gives a artificially high reading. A good hard full throttle run in 2/3rd when warm will clear it out. Once mine is warm on the way to the test centre I hold it in 2nd till it hits the governor. Hasn't failed yet td5 btw 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Mine has EGR blanked and remapped by Alive, and MOT people the other week said it was better than other defenders and commercial transits/diesels generally that they've seen. Cheers, David

My last one they said it failed the first test so they took it out for a "warm up run" and it then passed with flying colours Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Do any of you have the results figures - I'm interested in seeing what the actual range might be.

It says in an earl post that the Max is 1.5. So 3.9 is low. I wish mine could blow a load of coal out like a smoke screen!
