Thanks Steve, good choice!
That's good news, I think it looks really great in the picture with the alpine/rear windows fitted. I know I'm biased but I think the 90 HT is the best buy of the three particularly if you can claim the VAT back (Is it the case that the SW's are classed as cars and not VAT recoverable and is that also the reason that road tax is £225 for the hardtop and £500 for the SW?) Do you know what the split between the 3 models out of the 400 is? Paul |

Hi Paul
I think the road tax is £225 on them all at the mo as they were re assigned as light commercial for 2012. My 2013 110xs is £225.00 The VAT situation is that if you have more than two seats it is a car and if investigated for reclaiming VAT the max would be 60% if you could prove it was a working vehicle and not used for personal use. As a spectacle maker I have no chance with that. I can however claim the whole cost of the Ht and reclaim the VAT as it will be a delivery van I can also prove I have a car for personal use as have the 110 SW and the wifes car also. In theory the chances of getting caught are slim, but with my lucky face I thought I'd not take the chance. Not sure on the allocation of each heritage model sorry Steve |

Hi Steve,
That would make sense, I have a 2014 transit custom double cab van which has 6 seats which is also taxed at £225. The reason I mentioned the £500 road tax for SW's was because when I was looking on autotrader the other day pretty much every SW advertised by a Land Rover dealer I saw stated that the road tax was £500, it must be confusing if even they are getting it wrong!! At least with the 90HT it is straightforward, 2 seats and no side windows, it must be a van! Cheers, Paul |

You would have to do your own checks. But only hard top, pick up, double cab and usw can the vat be reclaimed. I can't get away with only two seats and no usw I haven't been able to get a special edition. My wife doesn't want one as her main car. The mileage I do the special editions are best left to people who can look after them. I pretty much ruined my tomb raider when they came out.

All defenders are n1 so you get the cheaper tax. This has been since 2012. But vat is a different story it does depend on usage.

Don't even go there, it's house moving time. Pretty much banned from any toys at the rate we are going I am going to be down to one Land Rover. But it's a good one and might be planning a visit to make it a little special before we move.
