Afternoon all.
Want to ask a daft question here before I prompt a 'they all do that sir' response from the dealer...
Is it normal that the steering has pretty much no play when in going straight ahead or in normal driving, but the closer I get to lock the looser the wheel gets? On full lock there's a few centimetres of play and it feels a bit wierd.
I can't feel any obvious play in the steering column or linkages, but haven't extensively wiggled things underneath while it's on lock.
Pretty sure it's always done it in the 18 months I've had it (MY12), but I'm taking it in for it's final check-up and service before the warranty runs out so thought it's a good time to make sure. Can't remember my SIII doing this.
Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm pretty certain that this is normal as backlash should only be measured in the straight ahead position. More slack inevitably occurs the more steering angle is introduced .  I started with nothing and still have most of it left!
